The main character. A depressed, lazy, yet good-natured young man who finds himself uncertain as to the meaning and purpose of his life and potential death. He used to be a stoic, nonchalant, everyday student, but a series of life issues made him more melancholic and alcoholic. The story is told mostly from his point of view of the Pyperth Pecton Disaster. Brilliant But Lazy - Noel wasn’t always a failing student. Due to his mental health declining over the years, he went from his grades being decent and on the rise, to terrible and steadily dropping until he failed on Results Day. Cool Kid-And-Loser Friendship - With his cousin, playing the part of the loser. The Drifter - Noel does not directly engage with the rest of the student body most of the time, acting as a wayward, drinking, lone ranger both at school and at Pecton. Drown Your Sorrows - The reason he attends Pecton despite not having many friends in their graduating class is that he could take advantage of the vast amounts of free drinks and use them to forget all of his problems. Deadpan Snarker - He is one to make cynical, sarcastic, passing comments in group settings. Envy - Feels this towards his cousin, Kelechi. Whilst Kelechi received all As and was the most popular student at their school, Noel failed his A-Levels and is practically friendless. Hidden Depths - Despite being quite a lazy and lethargic individual in general, Noel proves to be very athletic when the Swollen-Face killer situation forces him to have to run and/or fight for his life. The Loner - Admits that he has barely any friends twice in the book and is not seen hanging out with anyone on the Pecton trip until he meets Myah. Opposites Attract - Him and Myah. Her energy is that of fire, his is that of ice, hence why they initially clash but eventually end up incredibly fond of each other romantically. The Stoic - Even though he suffers from depression, he is almost never seen crying or expressing his sadness outwardly, apart from the perpetually calm but sour look on his face. The Quiet One - Is the main character, but due to his highly introverted nature, his cousin Kelechi is shown to speak the most lines out of any character in the book, including him.
