Zagreus MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Zagreus? Zagreus is an ENFP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - so/sp - 782 in Enneagram, SCUAI in Big 5, IEE in Socionics.

Zagreus is a really interesting character, and what I would call an "unusual" ENFP. He may seem like an ENTP at first glance, what with all his sarcastic and witty commentary, but the real key to his personality lies in his motivations. I've seen Zag's kindness and friendliness mistaken for Fe quite a few times, which demonstrates a misunderstanding of the feeling functions. It isn't as simple as Fe = kind, Fi = selfish. Fe users value group harmony over inner harmony, or to put it simply, they would put maintaining the status quo over following their own dreams. Collectivism. Zagreus follows his will to escape and see the surface, knowing that it's going to hurt those around him and cause tension within the house. This doesn't mean he's selfish, it means he's an individualist. He's a kind person, who is dedicated to helping those around him and fixing the relationships he broke, but he won't compromize his vision to so. He remains true to what he wants all the same. He even displays this huge amount of Fi in how he helps the people around him. He encourages them to do what they want, break the status quo, find personal happiness no matter what. Even the strongest argument for Fe, his desire to reunite his parents, loops back around to his true Fi nature. He wants to reunite his parenrs BECAUSE they love each other, IN SPITE OF the war their reunion could cause. He wants everyone to live for themselves, to stop being a part of a whole and start being an individual. You could call this guy the god of Fi. Now, I say ENFP and not ESFP for a few reasons. Ne leans heavily on creativity and wit, both of which Zag has an excess of. I don't think he can really be an Se-dom because he doesn't live in the moment. He seems incapable of living in the moment sometimes. He's motivated thoroughly by his end goal, not his current experience. Inf Si makes more sense than inf Ni to me, when he's really brooding, Zag finds himself motivated by the past, but he lacks real insightfulness/foresight, often saying the wrong thing or hurting someone without meaning to. So yes, I think Zag is a very well written non-traditional ENFP. Definitely one of the best portrayals of non-selfish Fi in media.

Biography

Zagreus, Prince of the Underworld, is the son of Hades and is the protagonist of the game named after his father. Zagreus has always had a sense that he doesn't belong in the House of Hades. Sometime before the start of the game he decides, against his father's will, to escape from the Underworld—no matter how many tries it might take him. He is aided and encouraged in his journey, primarily by his caretaker Nyx and his mentor Achilles. Others outside the House of Hades, such as Sisyphus, Charon, and the Olympians sometimes offer their aid as well. (Source; https://hades.fandom.com/wiki/Zagreus)
