What makes Count Olaf so terrifying is the fact that he has planned almost absolutely everything that happens in the novels, especially if you consider all the theory and nuances behind the books. His plans only fail due to chance, slip-ups of another character, or by some fortune of the Baudelaires. He is a terrifying adult because he stops at absolutely nothing to obtain what he is looking for. Even if he has other interests (e.g., the pedophilic aspects that went over my head as a child), he is still willing to sacrifice those for a greater goal: money (possibly to fix his estate depending on how you interpret the story).

Biography

The main villain of the series, Count Olaf is a villainous actor whose goal is to murder the Baudelaire children and steal their fortune, no matter where they go and how many stupid disguises he has to wear. He's revealed to have a connection to the shadowy organization known as V.F.D..
