What personality type is Father? Father is an INTJ personality type in MBTI, 5w6 - so/sp - 531 in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, ILI in Socionics.
Very clear 5. He wants to remove his "sins" from his impulses. That is extremely un-8-like, 8s fully embrace their passions, warts and all. On the other hand, 5s seek to distance themselves from their "bodies" and gain mastery and control over them. He is not so much motivated by power in the way that an 8 is as he is by the desire to acquire the world's knowledge and master his own impulses. I guess the 8w9 votes contend that he is an 8 collapsed into 5? I think that's an oversimplification of the enneagram; when you think of 8 goes to 5, think of Joseph Stalin's mental breakdown after the Nazis attacked the Soviet Union. He was still a core 8, this only lasted for a brief period. Unhealthy 8s may have some 5-ish qualities, but they don't just become 5s.
