What personality type is Kamina? Kamina is an ESFP personality type in MBTI, 8w7 - sx/so - 872 in Enneagram, SLUAI in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.
I totally understand where ENFP voters are coming from, but I still think he has both Se and Ni in his stack. Let's take a look at how Jung defines Se: "[The Se dom's] life is an accumulation of actual experience with concrete objects, and the more pronounced he is, the less use does he make of his experience. In certain cases the events of his life hardly deserve the name 'experience'. He knows no better use for this sensed 'experience' than to make it serve as a guide to fresh sensations; anything in the least 'new' that comes within his circle of interest is forthwith turned to a sensational account and is made to serve this end" I'd like to point out this in particular: "No better use for this sensed experience than to make it serve as a guide to fresh sensations". My interpretation is that Se is always seeking instant experiences to provide even more sensations, so there is actually no "stored" experience: it gets instantly spent. It sounds like Kamina to me. Ne users are also known for their love for novelty, but I believe the key difference is how we define Inferior Si. The role of the inferior function is aspirational, something the individual strives for/looks forward to. Kamina doesn't strive for Si, he completely despises it: the entire episode 5 is enough proof of that. Not only does he loathe the Priest, but he also suggests Rossiu enters the Gunmen by saying: "Don't think about pointless things. Just try doing whatever feels natural! That's why it's good" whereas Kamina fails to see this and simply states "there's nothing here", and what is Se about? Objective sensations. I would even go as far as to say that Kamina's father is likely the true ENFP here. Now, let's turn back to Ni. If we accept that the Inferior Function is underdeveloped and yet is something a type strives for, then Kamina's Ni comes clear. From what he sees in his current world, he starts imagining to "do the impossible, see the invisible" all his data in the current world gather into the single quest of going into space, and he certainly follows that ideal. This is as Se-Ni as it gets. Additionally, the "Ne=idealism" argument doesn't convince me at all, as this is mostly due to his Fi, his fighting spirit, and his belief that humanity should be free. I get it, Kamina looks so stereotypically Se that you wouldn't believe it, and yet he is stereotypically, *and* literally, a Se user. As stated above, I still see why some would type him Ne dom, there are good arguments for that too, so I'm happy to share with you my point and bring something else to the table.
