What personality type is Shallan Davar? Shallan Davar is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 7w6 - sp/sx - 749 in Enneagram, SCOAI in Big 5, ILE in Socionics.
Just going to add quotes as I find them that could support different typings of Shallan. Not trying to make the case for any particular type, although I personally think INFP is the best fit. “Shallan felt small. … The women from Father’s books, the women she was coming to admire, would not have made pleas to win this man’s heart. They would have tried logic. She wasn’t good at that. She didn’t have the training for it, and she certainly didn’t currently have the temperament.” —Words of Radiance page 562 - Seems to indicate high Fi and low Te to me. “‘If we wait here, we both die. Do you need more logic than that?’ “‘You made too much of an effort to get out here,’ [Kaladin] said. ‘Ostensibly all to investigate a chasmfiend’s chrysalis. A dead one, even. There has to be more.’ ‘You don’t understand the compulsive nature of scholarship, I see.’” —Words of Radiance page 836 - Indicates Ne/Ti usage in my mind. ‘I hate logic,’ she whispered. ‘Always have.’” —Words of Radiance page 853 - Seems like Shallan is having a negative response to Kaladin’s logical decision-making in a crisis, although she seems to recognize that he is correct in his thinking. Low Te/Ti? “Navani leafed through them, reading by spherelight. ‘The organization of these notes is . . . interesting.’ Shallan blushed. The organization made sense to her. As Navani continued to look through the notes, Shallan found herself growing oddly anxious. … ‘You think like an artist,’ Navani said. ‘I can see it in the way you put the notes together. Well, I suppose I can’t expect everything you do to be annotated precisely as I’d wish.’” —Words of Radiance page 940 - Seems indicative of lower Si, or perhaps lower Ti/Te? “‘What do you think of Shallan?’ [Jasnah] asked Ivory, shaking her head. ‘The person she’s become.’ … ‘She … is troubling,’ he said. … ‘She is not stable..’ ‘Ivory, you think all humans are unstable.’ ‘Not you,” he said, lifting his chin. “You are like a spren. You think by facts. You change not on simple whims. You are as you are.’” —Oathbringer page 478 - Seems to contrast Jasnah’s consistent objective logic (Te/Ti) with Shallan’s shifting values (Fi). “Veil wanted to be a hero of the streets, like in the old stories. That had corrupted Shallan, preventing her from going forward with something more logical. But she’d never been the logical one. That was Jasnah, and Shallan couldn’t be her. Maybe … maybe she could become Radiant and …” —Oathbringer page 732 - Again, contrasting Jasnah’s logic (Ti/Te) with Shallan’s desire to be a hero. Not sure that this represents a specific cognitive function, but it does indicate that Shallan is unlikely to be a high Te/Ti user in my opinion.
