What personality type is Simon Lewis? Simon Lewis is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 5w6 - sx/sp - 529 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
I was rereading the series and I believe Simon is an INTP. It seems to me that he is in a Ti-Si loop in most of it, including. In the first book, Clary tells how he was always a logical, rational and analytical child, in a childhood phase where the development of auxiliary and tertiary functions is not expected. Until he became a vampire, he had a rational resistance to accept what Jace said, but then connected mentally with an abstract concept, usually referring to books such as Anna Ricce novels or RPG creatures. The auxiliary Ne of the INTPs work expanding their initial thesis into new possibilities, making mental associations with what they already know. It seems to me a mental process that comes close to INTP For comparison, Alec is an ISFJ. When he uses Ne he is either in extreme discomfort as a defense mechanism, or he is very comfortable and using the functions in a healthy way (ex. in the end of the first book). Simon, on the other hand, understands things by making mental associations with abstract concepts, and usually comes out in a comical way, as far as the stereotype is concerned. His lower Fe is very visible and partially developed. He has difficulties in establishing emotional connections with other girls, with school friends and even with Isabelle and Maya in the beginning. Like Jace, they fail to put the feelings of the other girls they relate to (with the exception of Clary) as a relevant agenda. Simon says in the first book that he didn't care emotionally about his ex-girlfriends and that he used them to "train" until he reached Clary. Jace does something very similar to that in the third book. Of course, he doesn't look like Jace. Jace is an ISTP and with a very clear Se, therefore, he applies the dominant Ti in a more practical, assertive and even a little dangerous way than an INTP, which uses Ti through the abstract prism of Ne. He has a very different narrative form than Alec, that the whole situation he compares with something he previously lived through thanks to the dominant Si. When we are under Alec's POV, Cassandra Clare constantly uses flashbacks. He looks at his father and remembers when he was afraid of him in the second book, he looks inside the crib of Lilith's children and remembers Max baby, fully describing the scene, he looks at Jace and remembers when they were ten years old etc. . Simon, on the other hand, does make references to the past, but there is not so much this very detailed feature. It sounds more like an unhealthy tertiary Si. He is afraid to change the reality he is in. This gets in the way of moving forward. Something similar to the Lewis, Disney character of Meet The Robinsons, an INTP in a Ti-Si loop. Like Lewis, Simon envisions the time before Clary was Shadowhunter, for example when he says it was easier to buy her a gift earlier. His Si also helps Ti to think, albeit innovative, based on details, for example when he hits the skylight and kills Abbaddon. Alec is not, he is motivated and reasoned through the sensory analysis he did previously. What he did once will most likely work again, in his reasoning. It is not a reaction that prevents you from moving forward, but it also hinders him to develop a more creative solution. I haven't read the post-TMI books. It may be that the construction has changed, inconsistencies are not uncommon. It may even be that I missed something at some point in the new reading, but when Cassandra stopped a narrative moment in the first one to talk about how he was an analytical and rational child, it gives me the idea that this is the original construction. Obviously it seems stereotyped, but we have in the same serie an ISFP artist who is not like the other girls, an ISTP badboy who rides a motorcycle and dresses in black and an ENTP kind of extravagant demon.... Now, about the 5w6, I have doubts ... The process of understanding him about reality is close to INTP in the first serie, but the 5w6 motivations I really don't know...

Simon Lovelace, born Simon Lewis, is Clary Fairchild's best friend and parabatai and Isabelle Lightwood's fiancé. A mundane when they were originally introduced to the Shadow World, Simon was once turned into a vampire, and later to a Daylighter. Before their lives being changed by the Shadowhunter World, Simon was an open geek and the bass player of a garage band. He was described as cute but doesn't even realize it. He had been a vegetarian since he was 10 years old. He also often quoted different "nerdy" things, like Dungeons and Dragons. He can be sarcastic and describes himself as witty and ironic. Simon has demonstrated that he can be courageous, brave, and loyal. He is willing to sacrifice his life to save those he loves.
