What personality type is Sakura Adachi? Sakura Adachi is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - sx/sp - 594 in Enneagram, RLUEN in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
Let's give a more elaborate post! Reading the novel, the ISFP interpretation makes more sense (but I doubt most of these voters read the novel), but I'm still partial to INFP. Her 'Shimamura Note' is literally just a notebook written about everything she loves about Shimamura and what she wants to do with her, a very intricate and detailed record of her emotions, a method of brainstorming, jumping from one idea to the next - her Ne feels clear, to me. Not to mention her aforementioned Si; Adachi is constantly revisiting the past in her mind, reinterpreting past events, using mementos to connect her to it... it all seems rather apparent to me. She quickly slips into the Fi-Si loop, though, relegating herself to despair and ennui when her Ne fails to get her what she wants. In my last post I said she's incapable of acting in the moment, but that's not exactly true - Adachi can be quite reckless, thoughtless, and impulsive, but rather than the Se desire to live in the moment it's more her Ne getting ahead of her - all these ideas, all these possibilities, so close, yet so far - she can't help but jump out and grasp them. She talks about her head filling up with ideas, one by one, faster than she can manage, until they can't help but flood out. She's still rather indecisive and nervous all around though. You could argue for Ni with her habit of fastidious, particular plans for future events with her and Shimamura - but when you throw together her overall unhealthiness, jealousy, and strong Fi and Si together with Ne, you get a person who doesn't appreciate change from what she has grown to expect as the emotional norm. "This was a pretty common occurrence, I'd noticed, for me to prioritize stability and custom over efficiency." Here, you have one of her recurring traits actively highlighted by her narration; Si is clearly present and stronger than both Se and Ni. 6w5 > 4w5 > 9w1 sp/sx, IMO. It's hard to see 9w8, personally; Adachi is rather strict with herself and a lot less prone to anger and irritation than Shimamura (who, in the LN, has the gut reaction to lash out when prodded). As for her instinctual variant... when we get into Naranjo's instinctual variants, SP 6 is obvious, just a particularly reclusive and mildly abrasive SP 6, colored by that strong SX. She's an alliance maker, just a single-target one, who wants Shimamura to give her the comfort, guidance, support she's always wanted, all her life. Her 6 is apparent in general - she's conscientious, prone to suspicion, stiff; always on time for everything. There's definite SP 4 there too; her tenacity in pursuing her desires and her steadfast endurance of a life and world that gradually wears her down. Probably could make a good case for either 4w5 sp/sx or 6w5 sp/sx but I'd lean towards 6w5. Then again, the Adachi we see in the story is only now growing to reach out towards others, really, after self-imposed isolation for so long. The more I think about it the more confident I am in 6w5; she doesn't move towards 1, really, she moves towards 3 (becoming more confident and hard-working in her pursuit of Shimamura) and 9 (sorta obvious, did this throughout most of her life). Any thing resembling movement to 2 is explained by her general clinginess and unhealthiness, strong SX, the 4 that is still there in her tritype, and the general dependency issues that 6's can have. Biography
Sakura Adachi (安達 桜 Adachi Sakura) is a high school student. She is found skipping class on the second floor of the gym by Shimamura Hougetsu one day. The two of them gradually became friends and began to spend a lot of time together. Adachi had an extremely introverted personality. Before meeting Shimamura, she never had someone whom she can call a friend. Adachi was said to be cold toward other people and didn't attempt to make friends with other people in the past. She also gets very jealous when Shimamura is together with her friends, and as a consequence usually ends up running away.
