What personality type is Vinsmoke Sanji? Vinsmoke Sanji is an ENFJ personality type in MBTI, 3w2 - sx/so - 316 in Enneagram, SCOAN in Big 5, LSE in Socionics.
🔆ENFJ fits Sanji quite well🔆 Wasn’t so sure if he is ENFJ or ESFJ after my first time watching the live action. But after rewatching EP5-8 I’ve convinced myself ENFJ suits him much better. Here begins my analysis~😉 1️⃣ Why Fe (Extroverted Feeling) is his dominant cognitive function Even though many voters agree on this, I’ll still try to explain. Fe (Extroverted Feeling) bestows us with the gift of empathy. It advocates for the greater good and entrusts a strong sense of ethics. We instinctively tune in to moral or cultural values to maintain harmony through this function. Fe in the dominant position makes ENFJs feel compelled to make sure everyone has been taken care of and feels comfortable. Sanji is definitely a kind, considerate, and caring character who has a strong sense of values and acts strictly according to his codes. “If a man is hungry, I feed him.” (Zeff)”Where do you think you’re going?” “To help Chore Boy’s friend.” “You always told me to feed anyone who’s hungry. I don’t see how this is any different.” “I just thought everyone’d be hungry, man. Plenty we didn’t use. Never waste food.” He always stands up for those he cares about and tries to maintain order in the room when he can. “New guy shuts up the clown head.” Fun fact: even Taz himself says in an interview that this caring side is above all the strongest trait of Sanji. 2️⃣ Why Ni (Introverted Intuition) serves as his auxiliary function, but not Si (Introverted Sensing) Generally speaking, Ni-users prefer to pioneer new roads and dislike repetitive routines whereas Si-users have a respect for existing methods and thrive on routine. As portrayed in the live action, Sanji is someone eager to explore new recipes and create his own dishes. Which makes me think his Ni > Si. “If I gotta sling one more prime rib medium-well, I’m going to drop dead of boredom!” He also looks so happy and excited when he starts a new life full of adventures with the other Straw Hats. No more mundane routines. And what makes me even more certain about his auxiliary Ni function? Ni-users are those who read between the lines. Perhaps you may not notice at first glance, but Sanji is very sharp and perceptive. For him, it‘s almost natural to see and intuit beyond what meets the eye. “A beautiful, talented woman does not choose to ally herself with a pirate like Arlong.” “Well, tattoos don’t tell the whole story.” “There’s something else going on here.” Ni-users are also known for their ability to see the big picture. Sanji is exactly the one in the crew who sees through every corner of the scope leaving no dead zones and constantly analyzes situations from a holistic point of view. During the battle at Arlong Park, he’s the one keeping an eye on everything. He worries about Zoro’s condition and once he beats Kuroobi he immediately wants to check if Luffy and Nami are ok. “You look tired. Maybe you should take a rest.” “Luffy needs us.” Knowing how it goes in the manga/anime, his Ni-aux will manifest more in the upcoming seasons for sure (the moments where he becomes the strategist of the crew). Can’t wait to see it :) Moreover, Ni-users tend to isolate themselves from the group when analyzing things. Sometimes they need to be alone to fully perform their gifts. That’s why as you may know in the manga/anime, he’s always the one who disappears, carries out his special mission on his own, and saves the day. His little smile to Zoro when things go as he planned (Ni-users love to predict the future or even control the future), his using metaphors when fishing… “But we are not talking about fishing, are we?” These are also moments when his Ni shows up. 3️⃣ How Fe-Ni combination works perfectly together Fe-Ni allows ENFJs to intuitively see through people’s moods, feelings and needs while keeping constantly the big picture in mind. Well, which makes them very good at taking care of everyone in the room: “That you did. But Patty’s sleeping off a brutal hangover, so unless you want to do brunch prep all by yourself…” Or noticing the underlying problem and giving some friendly advice: “Being a captain, it’s the toughest job in the world, Zeff once told me that making decisions is what separates a captain from the rest of his crew.” ✅ I type him as 1w2 because he relentlessly upholds his principles (remember how he protected his velouté when he was still a child) while being altruistic in his behavior. He would no doubt choose doing the right things even it means to abandon his ambitions over striving to succeed by all means. And I believe being good matters more than being loved for Sanji. 🔆🔆 Anyway, being romantic, charming, and flirty without behaving extravagantly like a pervy simp (in the manga/anime) makes Sanji much more lovely. Easily my favorite Straw Hat. Gentle, kind, caring, brave, cool as a cucumber, and smart. Yet be careful, he becomes fierce to protect those he loves. The way he gets angry is so cute ;)
