Elena Gilbert MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Elena Gilbert? Elena Gilbert is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 2w1 - sp/so - 296 in Enneagram, SLOAN in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.

She has too many opposite thoughts at one second to be considered an ISFP. I get where these ISFP and ISFJ votes come from, but Elena seeks double meanings too more time than ISFPs do that. She's really athletic and aesthetic, which stereotypically would indicate on ISFPs. She was also described to be a fun popular girl by Caroline, before her parents died in an accident, and this is one of reasons ISFP voters come from, and they claim that her high Si is only because of trauma and as her tool to deal with the pain. I don't think so. Besides, who says INFPs cannot be easy-going, sociable and fun? Sure, stereotypically Extraverted Sensors or ISFPs are described to be that way, but Elena long before her parents death was interested in literature, poems and reading. She also claimed once that for a very long time she considered to be a writer. Yeah, I know what y'all think right now. Now I am the one falling into stereotypes: poems and writing=INFP vibes. She's very present at the moment and she can stand for herself, but it doesn't mean she's an auxiliary Se user or doesn't excludes her to be an auxiliary Ne user either. Her Ne according to me is multiple times revealed, for example when she daydreams of Damon, like during Jeremy school parents' meeting, when instead of focusing on a concrete information given by teachers she just looks at the distance and imagines herself having wild sex with Damon in one of the classrooms...or even better, when she actually gets to the business with Stefan in bed and then instead of him she sees Damon. Or the fact she thinks SO MUCH about everything. This isn't the way ISFPs act. I compare her to my numerous favorite ISFP fictional characters, like Sean Diaz (Life is Strange), Tris Prior (Divergent), Pillar (Love, Victor), or Scott (Teen Wolf). Maybe these ain't the most popular ISFP characters, but what is clear to me, knowing all these characters and Elena is that none of them analizes anything so much as Elena does. ISFP live in here and now and act in a moment. INFPs don't do that or might do that as well, but...in their own specific ways like Elena does it. She's actually quite tuned with 'here and now'. She isn't detached or anything, but she's too wish-washy and thoughtful for me to be an ISFP. Someone wrote she's not into tradition like almost all Si users are. I can't agree on that. Being a traditional Si user doesn't mean you have to be a Christian, believer or sth like that. She's actually very traditional in a way she values society and family chierrarchy. She's very protective of her younger brother Jeremy. When their parents are gone, she sometimes acts a little as this stereotypical type of overprotective Karen mother, like when she made Damon to compel Jeremy to leave town, because she thought this was a right thing to do, not giving him any choice. This sounds to me more like INFP action than ISFPs who are more chill and have that attitude to lie "live and let live" or "love&peace". She's her own opposite part, like most INFPs tend to be (xd), cause she's described as this altruistic compassionate type, but at the same time she tends to be SO JUDGMENTAL towards her friends, when they act differently than she'd wish them to + she has this dream: she wants to end the college, get a job, get married, have children and live for the rest of her life with one man. When you think of that, it's a really traditional kind of idea of life, and Elena- respects tradition, besides being reckless and vampire at one point. So I think her tertiary Si plays a big role in that. Elena was a good idealistic person, but as it happens usually with unhealthy INFPs, she was so lost in her thoughts and her own idea of good, that she tended to be too self-absorbed and egoistic, not ever realizing it. With no offense to INFPs I am myself, but I really know that tendency in INFPs based on me, and multiple INFP friends and all of them had that tendency. Actually, my mother is the most healthy INFP I ever got to know ;-D Anyways, these are my thoughts. Someone made a valid point here, something like: "It's hard to type Elena, but I type her as INFP based on what I think the writers wanted her to be creating her character". People also forget that INFPs are really impulsive types...not all the time, but from time to time, as their own inner emotions are so unstable and unclear. They can protect themselves. I just think that Elena could be a really down-to-earth resourceful type of INFP, rather than stereotypical detached from real world hopeless romantic INFP. It's possible.
