Ming Lee MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Ming Lee? Ming Lee is an ESFJ personality type in MBTI, 1w2 - so/sp - 162 in Enneagram, SLOAN in Big 5, ESI in Socionics.

Let's not forget Ming did all the things she did not because she was a selfish arrogant parent but because she truly believed it was BEST FOR MEI MEI (Fe) and it was ALL SHE KNEW (Si). You can see how she was supportive of Mei going through period even if she went overboard. Her daughter being embarrassed of her action just did not come across her mind. She did not mean to force Mei Mei into an uncomfortable situation. She thinks it's others who are making Mei feel bad. She is the generation that got stuck in the middle. It's pretty obvious the grandmother was VERY strict on Ming. For all those years, she's still bitter towards Ming for marrying Mei's father. It traumatized Ming so much that she was determined to not let that happen for her Mei, and wanted to be more understanding and caring than how the grandmother treated her. Ming and Mei had a very good relationship as you can see from old pictures and how Ming and Mei handle the temple work at the beginning. Yet, the only method she knew was how her own mother raised her, making sure Mei will not fall into the "wrong paths," disrupting the family's harmony. Ming did not have a chance to explore about her identity and tastes like Mei did. She felt so guilty doing it and the grandmother's scar symbolizes that. Her suppression of her emotions that hindered her from being a perfect daughter is the reason why her Panda is humongous, and unlike Mei, she completely lost her control in her panda form. She maybe an adult but she never had the chance to learn how to deal with her emotions, properly. Her panda goes into Tamagotchi so that she can still have a little bit of interaction without dealing it directly, which is too overbearing. At the end, you see Ming will forever never be able to fully come to terms with her inner panda like Mei did. She still can't understand things like sexuality that Mei is exploring herself. It's too late her for to grow now, and that's why we see Ming still being so hesistant even til the end. But at the very least, now she gets what she was doing might have not been the best for her daughter, and was causing the same trauma she never wanted her daughter to go through. Her character resonates with me so much. Although my mother was never that strict like Ming, her strong Fe and Si also used cause lots of trouble between us growing up. She now recognizes she may never understand things I like but is very supportive of me and have faith in me that I can handle it. It also took me a long time to recognize that she, too, is an individual with her own life experiences that have shaped her thinking and personality beyond their label, "mother." You cannot be your mother's dream child forever because we are two different people at the end of the day, but regardless, we can still trust and love each other, wishing for each other's best.
