Outdated argument‼️If you'd like to see my new, updated argument for ISFP Nene including all functions + 2w3, please have a look: https://www.personality-database.com/comment/11358575?profileID=54148 [ 𝑴𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑨 𝑺𝑷𝑶𝑰𝑳𝑬𝑹𝑺 𝑨𝑯𝑬𝑨𝑫 ] OKAY, official argument for ISFP nene. Please read if you’re conflicted ( 𝐅𝐞 𝐯𝐬. 𝐅𝐢 ) FIRST OF ALL, to address the elephant in the room: Fe vs Fi. The main argument I've seen for Fe is her desire to impress others through “changing herself” or taking on hobbies and learning new talents to appeal to them. E.g. “I started gardening... Because a guy I used to like mentioned that he likes feminine girls. I learned to cook and sew as well.” 𝙈𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: I believe this actually stems from inferior Te (which ISFPs have) wherein the user is self-conscious of what others think about them, and worry about their reputation and how others perceive them. This is similar to Mitsuba, who is an Fi dom, where he longs to be authentic to himself, but is hindered by others' opinions of him. He gets down on himself and takes their words to heart, but he doesn’t wish to change who he is fundamentally. It’s been shown in hell of mirrors that Nene is extremely weary and self-concious about her physical appearance and her biggest fear is that her friends see her in this way. Nene doesn’t actually want to change herself for the people around her, she just thinks that’s the only way she can be loved by others because that’s what she’s been told, and has observed through her best friend, Aoi, being so popular. More on this later. Let’s get back to Fe vs Fi. 𝙈𝙮 𝘼𝙧𝙜𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙁𝙞: Nene is seen to run on her own internal moral compass throughout the story. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝟭: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟭 “I don’t love senpai–not even close. I realized I was only trying to use him. Everything you said was true, Hanako-san. I would have taken anyone if I could be part of a couple.” Fe doms often have a hard time defining or recognizing their feelings, but that’s not the case with Nene. She’s very clear about understanding her own feelings and making decisions based upon them. Yashiro’s “love” for her previous crushes stemmed from her insecurities and she chased those whims to fulfill her own desires. She never really cared about how the other person felt or made an effort to get to know them, essentially forcing her feelings and ideals onto them. (Unhealthy Fi) Even when Yashiro is trying to impress people, she does it in a way authentic to herself. E.g. She made a lunch for Teru themed around monsters, which is something she likes and thought he would enjoy as well. An Fe user would instead take into consideration what kinds of things the person of their affection likes and ask them personally what they prefer. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝟮: 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝗰 As soon as Nene finds herself in an inauthentic world, she immediately decides that the right thing for her to do is escape. She gets no outside opinion, nor does she base this decision on the feelings of or concern for anyone else in the story. It’s simply what she has judged as right based on her own feelings. Hear me out on this part: Fe talks about emotions to understand them, while Fi talks about emotions to validate them. When Aoi and Akane crumble apart in Chapter 43, Nene says: “Kou-kun…you think so too, right? You think it’s crazy? You don’t think this is normal, do you?” At first, I thought this was Fe, as if Nene was gauging how she should be reacting by asking Kou what he thinks. But actually, Nene already has decided that this is wrong, so she’s not trying to understand her own emotions, rather she’s trying to validate them. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝟯: 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽 𝟳𝟯) Teru, Akane, Kou and Nene form a plan to “save” Aoi and Hanako from the far shore, at least that’s what Nene had believed. After she discovered that Teru and Akane didn’t intend to save Hanako (which she wished to do) she formulated a new plan based on her personal desires and beliefs and what she judged as right. She didn’t wish to understand Teru and Akane’s perspectives, didn’t even ask them why they wouldn’t save Hanako or convince them in the name of social harmony, and instead created her own path forward, uncaring for any future consequences in their relationships. Fe asks “how will others react?”, while Fi asks “what feels right to me?”. ────────────────────────────────────────── I would argue that these examples are more core to her character and more impactful to the story compared to the main argument used for Fe and I can’t wrap my head around how she could possibly be Fe dom after considering these plot points. Trust me, I’ve tried to see her as ESFJ. Nene is a very empathetic Fi dom which can be confusing at times. Fi users can be very concerned with how their actions affect other people, but their concern would stem from a deeply held belief one should treat people kindly.
