Some SPOILERS included: In the new season of Nanatsu no Taizai: Dragon’s Judgement, there are many references to the types of our dear Deadly Sins. Ban is full of Se. He enjoys interacting with the physical, present world. His fighting is mainly consisted of body contact, with punches and kicks, flying, and more. One of his hobbies, cooking, says quite a lot about Se, which is in the now, tasting new spices and flavors, being naturally creative with food and its taste (It’s not a surprise he’s a superb cook). Another proof that is almost directly stated for him being a Se-dom—> when Ban goes to find Melioda’s emotions in Purgatory, he faces many hardships and is tested uncountable times with dangerous monsters, harsh weather conditions which varies from burning to freezing cold, air which is not suitable for humans to breathe, etc. Meliodas even comments that Ban is very adaptable and has become accustomed to the Purgatory’s adversities, whereas he as a Ne-dom is still struggling somewhat, and thinks of giving up quite often (the duality of Ne and Se), unlike Ban’s persistence that comes from the core of flexibility and the survival of the fittest, biologically speaking (No wonder Se is the best function midst an apocalypse). In my opinion, this character became very healthy and mature after and during Purgatory. His Ti came mainly in analyzing the situation together with Meliodas. Through his Se, he made many calculations internally in understanding how the fight was proceeding, plus what could be the best course of action based on what he had experienced (fights with the Demon King). Ban is a confident person in his skills, and his auxiliary Ti proves that by how disciplined he is internally = good inner control results in satisfaction and self-assurance. If you pay attention, we as watchers, are often invited into his mind in the anime, where we can see his process-analysis and decision-making happening inside his mind (may sound generic, but you get my point). For Fe, there isn’t much one can say, given how clear it is observed. Why did Ban go to the Purgatory? To aid his best friend. Why does he want to revive Elaine? She’s the woman he loves. Throughout the series, one can easily see how Ban is particularly selfless, even though it is not as conspicuous as with Fe-doms or Fe-auxs. He acts more on the desires of others or to help others (not for his benefit) than his own as in Fi. His inferior function Ni could be perceived in the many cases Elaine ‘died’, and he’d go berserk or enter the state of despair in search of bringing her back again or wanting to eradicate the culpable person/circumstances for her death. His Ni is not 100% healthy, but he is a pretty healthy individual that is on the way to accomplishing this. It also comes in the forms of him being more attentive and taking his concerns more seriously (what’s going on), the goal to protect his friends (what is important) and the capability to find humor in mistakes when everything seems to be going to doom. We also can’t forget how he gained an extra boost on his Ni, namely the ‘intuition base’ of hunches and gut feelings that he got better at —> in battles, he’d read the air while fighting his opponents and have a kind of foresight in what the next move would be of his adversary (not as a Ni-dom, of course. This can be seen when he got it wrong multiple times, proving his Ni cannot be used as a higher function, thus low stack. Then, he’d go back to using what he’s good at, that is Se to adapt to the opponent’s attacks and be in the physical moment to defend and counterattack). That’s it, I guess? Let me know if you guys find anything I could change or improve.
