So I was really surprised when I came to the realization that she was typed as an ISFP on this site. Now that my knowledge regarding typology systems is way more efficient than the one I had at that time, I can firmly confirm my very first thought about her. Firstly, we can start by defining the differences between Fi and Fe: subjectivity versus objectivity. We can define Fi as a subjective and receptive function, that sees if what’s external aligns with the subject and reacts according to it. Fi values things in a subjective way based on one’s own moral, believing system and line of thought. Fe, as the other facet of the medal, does the opposite; it is objective and dynamic, doesn’t find checking on themselves necessary and automatically alignes with what’s external. Fe values things in an objective way, to a point that morality itself can lose its own “essence”. We know that, since the first chapters, Nene is represented as a girl whose hobbies and abilities are only defined by external preferences (more specifically, the preferences of the guys she “likes”), who wants to experience romance just because she thinks that someone who’s external to her persona could actually fulfill her sense of inferiority and “complete” her, rather than trying to understand herself and what could really satisfy her better. In the school’s album, it was shown that she was part of the gardening club for many years, gaining an aptitude for growing vegetables. She recounted this as a feminine trait in addition to sewing and cooking after making an attempt to impress a boy. So she not only defined herself by the preferences of another individual, but she immediately blended to what society considered “acceptable”, a feminine and graceful girl, in order to be accepted and loved, without even considering what her true interests and way of being were truly like. Now, do we really think that the introverted dominant attitude, whose feeling can even arrive at some sort of depreciation towards the object, could truly fit this girl? I would like to clarify that external conditions do not affect only Fe users: anyone can be conditioned by those, even Fi doms. The real difference is that the latters would never truly think that accommodating themselves to the objective and external fact could bring them “happiness”: they strive to stand above it, since its whole unconscious effort is to give reality to the underlying images. If Fi doms would ever be “forced” to forget their inner self in order to adapt to the external circumstances, they would regret it in no time, be ashamed of themselves for having been duped by outsiders, and try to find a way to “escape” this situation.
