Boyd is an ESTP SX2. His entire reason for becoming a mercenary is based on his life being saved by Greil and given their lives back; everything Boyd does is out of a desire to appear the best he can to his family and loved ones; his Se is clear as day with his ability to notice details and act within his environment, complimented with extraordinarily strong Fe due to his upbringing, Sociotype, Enneagram and other factors. His Ti ends up shining through with him speculating on several ideas and often following through on context, and the story as it goes through both games revolves around him developing his Ni-inf more and learning to read between the lines more (like what he did with his mother upon recognizing him). Not to mention, a massive variety of sentiments that tie to his SX2 leaning: "I can't believe it! [Shinon and Gatrie] just left, and they didn't take one look back! Heartless scum! I'll never forgive them!" "How can you say that, [Soren]? After all the battles we've been through together, how can you say that?" "The commander hired both Oscar and me. Boyd is a wonderful example of why ESTPs can be among the most affectionate, loving and emotional thinkers out there. There's a really bad stereotype going about that ESTPs are jerkish jocks with a sociopathic disregard for others, but healthy ESTPs know to channel their empathy to others in their own crude, unique way. Boyd is perhaps one of the healthiest ESTPs I've seen in fiction, and a strong example for how Fe-tert can be developed in a way that becomes rivaling in quality to a dominant function.
