꧁༺POLITES IS AN ESFJ ༻꧂ I know it's hard to gauge much about Polites given his very limited screentime, but I will say the ENFP consensus doesn't make much sense. Sure, you could argue his openness mentality equates to Ne, but there is another problem this poses... ➳ Where is the Fi? Fi-users tend to keep their own feelings and sentiments close to their hearts, to open themselves up only to a select few. To have a falsely cold surface that can appear almost thinker-like at a first glance. Polites completely lacks this. Even if we were to infer he has Ne, the Fi auxiliary isn't prevalent at all. In fact... ➳ "Lotus-eaters, I'd like to show my friend that kindness is brave, Can you show us where there's other food to eat?" Fi-users tend to think of individuals as all having their own distinct different beliefs, and they do not push them onto others, they merely deeply believe them themselves. Fe-users, on the other hand, will often push morals onto others because they think it's for the greater good. Not to mention, look at literally all of Polites' dialogue in Open Arms. ➳ "You can relax my friend (Huh?) I can tell you're getting nervous, so do yourself a service And try to relax my friend (I'm fine, Polites)" The song starts out with Polites reading Odysseus's nervousness despite his best attempts to hide it. This shows that Polites is very attuned to others' emotional states. This is very common for Fe-users. ➳ Auxiliary Si: "Think of all that we have been through We'll survive what we get into" Polites is certain they will survive what is to come because of everything they have been through thus far. He thinks everything from this point on will go similarly. ➳ Fe+Si:"I know that you're tired of the war and bloodshed... Look at how you grip your sword, enough said" Polites demonstrates a perfect read on Odysseus's feelings once again, pointing to his strong Fe. He notices the intricate detail of how Odysseus grips his sword and what it speaks to with his emotional state, showing strong Si. ➳ "This life is amazing when you greet it with open arms Whatever we face, we'll be fine if we're leading from the heart No matter the place, we can light up the world" Notice how he states it is amazing, as in it always has been amazing for him so far with this mentality. This might be speculation, but Polites may keep this mentality due to his past experiences, showing his Si. His Fe also shows its prominent dominance in the idea of leading from the heart, using his extroverted feeling function first and foremost of all. You can also notice Polites' tertiary Ne in his optimistic and open-minded mentality, it shows a fair amount of hopefulness about the future while still cherishing the past. ➳ "I see in your face, there is so much guilt inside your heart So why not replace it and light up the world? Here's how to start" Further Fe and Si on Polites' part, tuning in to his friend's emotional state once more using the sensory indicators. His whole song is also very Fe, as he constantly seeks to positively influence Odysseus's emotional state and to get him to believe in his "Open Arms" mentality. ➳ Inferior Ti: "You can show a person that you trust them When you stop and lower your guard" The idea of trusting people absolutely and abandoning all skepticism of them embodies inferior Ti. Polites is asking Odysseus to let go of his negative worldview so that he can feel better about himself and make better connections with others, which also shows further Fe on Polites' part. ➳ "My friend I wish that I could say that I agree But look at the way this fruit is glowing And filled with glowing seeds It took me a while to notice just what kind of fruit they eat It's a lotus, it controls your mind and never lets you free That's what we'd get with open arms" This further shows Polites' inferior Ti, the way he trusted the Lotus-Eaters absolutely without even thinking there was a chance of negative intentions on their part. Literally this entire song was just Polites trying to give his friend therapy and help him make friends and open his heart to trust others... 😭😭 He's most likely an Fe-dom!
