He was a "Westerner" but the "West" that he admired was not Renaissance, Protestant Reformation and Scientific Revolution, but Middle Ages, Catholicism and Schelling's absolute idealism. He rejected Russian nationalism partially because he embraced the unity of the Christian world (Fe). Also he was so against Fi inclinations (unbridled individualism and divination of one's own emotions) that he agreed explicitly with Plato's accusation of Homer as a corrupter of morality and suggested that a little usage of disinterested reason would find how ridiculous Homer was (Ti over Fi). He was not eclectic (as Ne users) but extremely opinionated and judgmental, especially most of his comments on historical figures betrayed the views of a collectivist religious Traditionalist besides that he apologised for Epicurus, not for materialism of course, but for his community-based living style and his promotion of universal benevolence (again Fe). But this is not Si conservatism since he criticized almost everything in Russia and called for radical changes in the name of absolute truth. He was a moralist and Christian mystic more than anything else and INTJ is an obvious mistype.
