Hermès MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Hermès? Hermès is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - sx/sp - 541 in Enneagram, RLOAI in Big 5, EII in Socionics.

He's very much motivated by morality and meaning of life, but I don't see his actions as selfish at all. He was always so moved by death- particularly the death of the animals they created- that he sought to find a meaning beyond it--that despite all the suffering and dying, there was still a reason to live. Hence the Metion project. However, when all he found was sickness and suffering in the universe, he became convinced that that was what awaited everyone. Rather than see everyone go through that suffering as it unfolded, he decided to end the world quickly and quietly, so unlike the other planets he found, the suffering wouldn't be dragged out. Think of it like putting a dog down. If a dog had incurable and unrelieved pain that was only going to get worse as time went on, would it not be the kinder thing to put that dog down? This is what Hermes/Fandaniel's motivations were. He sought to end suffering above all else. He genuinely thought he tried everything by searching to the far reaches of the universe for the answer to the meaning of life despite death and suffering. Yet when it failed, his last ditch attempt to end suffering was to put the dog down, so to speak. He became so disgusted with himself that Hythlodaeus's soul in Zodiark mentioned how driven by self-loathing he was by the time he re-created the Final Days. He genuinely thought he was doing the right thing, even if it cost him his morality. But as Venat said, it's the sorrows that make the joys worthwhile. But Hermes was too sensitive to move past the sorrows of life, which is why he simply couldn't understand that point of view. He may have been able to had he not created the Metions and not heard about how every other civilization in the universe suffered and died. But alas, he did, and thus the final days drew upon us. He's a great character and a complex villain. I could really sympathize with him, having fallen into an existential-dread suicide attempt myself. But ultimately, no matter how bad and pointless things may seem at the time of one's depression, one can usually find a way out. It's just sad that he didn't, and he decided to euthanaise the world along with himself, like the sick dog he saw it as.
