Agnes Hathaway MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Agnes Hathaway? Agnes Hathaway is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 2w1 - sx/sp - in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.
Agnes has to be an Ni dom, right? Though her abilities are, essentially, supernatural and therefore shouldn't be taken into account too seriously while attempting to type her as a normal human, I think there is evidence of Ni outside of these abilities. Her natural inclination towards the forest I think indicates this, and the fact that she is even open to accepting these abilities and interpreting them the way she does implies Ni high in her stack too. She has that ethereal quality that Ni doms often have, especially in fiction; that hint of transcendence buried under the surface which gives her an almost non-human aura. I guess this supernatural ambience is brought out even more by the abilities, but I still think there's definitely something to be said for them. "Suddenly she knows two things. She doesn't know how she knows them; she just does. Agnes never questions these moments of insight, the way information arrives in her head. She accepts them as a person might an unexpected gift, with a gracious smile and a feeling of benign surprise." This is a very stereotyped comment, perhaps; maybe I'll read the book again with her typing in mind and see what other evidence I can come up with. But honestly, I think Agnes is such a walking stereotype that I'm not sure my typing needs too much justification 🤷
Biography
The orphaned daughter of Rowan, Agnes has always been different from everyone else, possessing strange abilities which often cause her to be ostracised from society. She always knows what is going to happen, and is a renowned healer in her town. For a long time, she has had in her mind the vision of two children at her deathbed, always leading her to believe that she will only give birth to two - when her second pregnancy brings her twins, she knows that something is amiss. Though she is not the title character, the novel focuses largely around her, especially her relationship with her husband (William Shakespeare), her unnatural abilities and how those abilities impact her after the death of her son Hamnet.
