What personality type is Harper Stern? Harper Stern is an ENTJ personality type in MBTI, 5w6 - sp/sx - 538 in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, in Socionics.
She seems maybe ENTJ to me? Although she’s initially reserved, maybe coming off as introverted, she doesn’t strike me as an Ni dom. Although she is ambitious and calculating (plotting fairly clear medium-term plans into the future) she seems far more motivated by achievement, domination, and above all outright financial reward. This, to me, seems far more Te-Se motivated than Ni-Fi motivated. In fact her only actual career weakness, and her most prominent personal one, is her inability to regulate her own emotions: inferior Fi. This was demonstrated as early as the exam she fumbled due to a panic attack before the series begins and extends into the multiple emotional outbursts we see throughout the series when her Te is eroded by stress. In reference to the decision she makes at the end of season 1, she clearly doesn’t necessarily morally agree with her own choices and does feel ashamed, but that shame is repressed before during and after the decision making process, which is instead motivated by the Te-Ni-Se need for self preservation and accomplishment. In the start of the second season she has also hidden from the shame of her decision, not only by working entirely remotely away from her peers, but also by using her work as a way to escape having to reckon with her own emotions. While she does have good enough Ni to cut through the jargon, nonsense, and posturing of the world around her she is nonetheless more motivated by a need to accomplish what she covets (all of which is very Se in nature) than she is by a vision she needs to realize for its own sake.
