Biography

The power to control ice, and create cold and frost at will. Likely to be used as a contrast to fire — if the hero prefers fire, their rival, Archenemy, or Lancer will use ice, forming a Fire/Ice Duo. Sometimes the domain of evil or undead entities as evil is deathly cold. Goes hand in hand with Water Manipulation, and may be involved with wind powers via cold air and snowstorms. May be used by Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti, Snowlems, a Yuki-onna, or even the Ice Queen. They'll often have blue clothes, hair, and/or skin because blue means cold. If it's not blue, it'll usually be white, as a reference to snow. Frequently leads to literally shattered lives. Also called "Cryokinesis". A common and unfortunate side effect of ice powers is using ice metaphors. We tend to link ice and snow with some of our strongest emotions. Snow can represent the tenderness of romance, or the sadness of death. And when we say Grim Up North, we mean grim for a reason. The quiet coldness of snow, ice, and winter tend to induce sadness in us. Therefore, fictional characters associated with ice and snow, tend to be some of the most emotional, tragic, and/or sympathetic. They may act cold towards others, and have to be taught kindness. They may be lonely and ice-olated (to steal a pun from Elsa.) Or they may even be unhappy about their icy nature itself - cold weather is often seen as harsh and unpleasant, and as a result, it's not very popular among many people compared to, say, warm summer days.
