Ilya is INTJ, Trailblazer, similar to Hinton and Musk, both of whom like him very much. He believes in certain ideas, gets invested into them, obsessed even, and figures details on the go. He is not at all a person of many ideas and rigid mathematical elegance and simplicity, akin an INTP. He actually likes complexity and deep, large networks. He filters what works and what does not, optimizes existing methods, very focused and tunnel visioning, believes and follows his own intuition about the direction he is taking, very long term oriented. He is an innovator, he believes in the future, thinks about it a lot, and very hands on, not your typical scientist. Hinton said he needed some programming automation tool to become more efficient in his research work with matlab so he coded it for a few hours to speed him up and be useful. Ilya brushed it off as no big deal and didn't care about his tool much, just that it helped him for his goals. He also enjoys real-time strategy games. He continued to develop with neural nets when nobody believed in them, except for Hinton and a few other collegues. Other scientists generally liked Baysian methods more. Similarly to Hinton, Ilya is also very critical of AI and concerned with safety. Recently he left Sam Altman and OpenAI to start his own company called SSI (Safe super intelligence). There was an interview of him playing the piano and walking around alone with his thoughts about the future, which I guess he thinks represents him well. He is probably a 5w4 over 5w6, altho he seems healthy and balanced as a person. This analysis is incomplete and will need citations and study of his personality according to the rest of the systems. Ilya Sutskever is a computer scientist working in machine learning and currently serving as the Chief scientist of OpenAI. He has made several major contributions to the field of deep learning. He is the co-inventor, with Alexander Krizhevsky and Geoffrey Hinton, of AlexNet, a convolutional neural network.
