Personality

What personality type is Shelby Goodkind? Shelby Goodkind is an ESFJ personality type in MBTI, 2w3 - so/sx - 216 in Enneagram, SLOAN in Big 5, ESE in Socionics.

shelby is a 9, not a 2. “The passion of Pride causes the Two to deny that they are anything but selfless, as they ignore their own needs and try to specially meet the needs of others in hopes that others will praise and appreciate them for it.” “The passion of Sloth causes the Nine to be unrealistically idealistic, as they do not want to be disturbed by a reality that is not peaceful, happy, or stable, and they are overly flexible as a means of ignoring developing their individuality.” shelby, especially in the first season, refuses to acknowledge anything that may disturb her inner peaceful reality. the way she reacts once she kisses toni is that of an e9, not an e2. she runs away & tries to ignore the fact that she even kissed her, and numbs herself by drinking. she can’t deal with this disturbance to her inner peace, even if it’s sometime she wants deep down. yes, shelby is selfless and ignores her own needs to help others, but not because she desires praise the way a 2 does. soc 9s are often mistake for 2s (same with sx 9s as well). “Social Nines express the passion of psychological laziness (or sloth) through merging with the group, working hard in support of group interests, and prioritizing the group’s needs above their own.” shelby from the very first episode has always been about the group. she has always put the group’s needs first, and she’s very involved in the camp life. you can tell being a leader comes natural to her, and she helps emotionally support a lot of the girls there (martha & dot especially in s1). in season 2, when shelby freezes and misses the chance to potentially get them rescued, she distracts herself by planning dot’s birthday party. she numbs herself by engaging in planning & ordering everyone around. being socially involved with the group is what shelby lives for, there’s no doubt that she is soc dom. soc 2 just does not make sense to me. the social 2 subtype is literally nicknamed “ambition”…that’s not shelby. she doesn’t care about cultivating an influential image or having social power, she just cares about being in the group & taking on the group’s needs like a social nine. “Social Nines like to control things, and they like to talk a lot. Because they work so hard for the group, they may have no time left for themselves. They tend to have very full lives-full of everything but themselves. And while Social Nines get their identity and their sense of reality from belonging, they often doubt their own existence, their own sense of self.” shelby gets so much out of belonging in a group but she still feels empty because she doesn’t know who she really is, that’s kind of the whole point of her character. she does so much to belong in the social atmosphere, but then struggles to accept who she really is. idk i could’ve written way more but regardless i can’t see shelby as a 2, she doesn’t have the 2s pride, and i think sloth fits her way better, especially the social 9 description. i might edit this comment later & add some stuff
