i think this is a fair vote, basically my whole life. I always needed someone to say I'm stupid or incompetent. Cause I feel like im sometimes too lazy to study or ignore my studies and then I fail, if someone says I'm stupid in something I'll try to prove them wrong so I'll study. Also, I'm sometimes overconfident in my own abilities in a subject such as math, physics, or smt. Then I get a slap in the face when I get lower than my normal score. I understand that I'm decently that smart or good at those subjects, but because I've been told by people that I'm good in it, then I feel like I can pass it despite not even trying. I also have high expectations of myself because my whole life, I've always been sorta gifted. during my early school years, I've always been a top student despite not studying or focusing at all. And in pretty sure this affects me till this day as I sometimes expect more from myself without putting in an effort first. and when I fail I simply lose my motivation at that specific thing. so I'm glad I have friends who remind me to put more effort in things rather than just thinking that I'm always good or should be good at something without even trying. I think admitting to experiencing this is more respectable than being ignorant, so I'm just writing about my own experience with the dunning kruger effect.
