Theo Von MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Theo Von? Theo Von is an ENFP personality type in MBTI, 7w6 - sx/so - 794 in Enneagram, SLUAI in Big 5, IEE in Socionics.
I can easily see ENFP with strong Fi. Theo is constantly contemplating the truth and externalizing it through instinctual observation (Ne) and expressing his inward emotions while remaining sensitive to others (Fi). I see tertiary Te in his creative decision-making. There's a lot of planning that goes into podcasting and comedy sets and he accesses this function less frequently. Inferior Si seems to be evident in the insecurity he experiences with his past. He seems to be finally reconciling with much of his childhood issues in midlife through aspects of his comedy. However, I'm not convinced about the 7w6 consensus. Archetypal Sevens are optimistic and energetic, avoiding negative emotions. You'll notice on his podcast, Theo thrives in the full range of emotions, preferring to have genuine conversations with his guests, adapting his interview style to their struggles and relating to them through his own personal shortcomings (recent examples include John Crist, Casey Frey). He feels entirely comfortable processing and defining his own feelings (see latest solo episode of TPW). He brings nuanced quips and metaphors into every conversation, never fearing to balance out melancholy with humor. In times when he perceives his jokes as insensitive, he very often draws back making remarks like "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that" and gets self-conscious. If you trace back his insecurities to a younger age, as a teenager he's expressed frustration with how often others misunderstand him and his unique sense of humor (see his appearance on Road Rules). He has also said on numerous occasions that he values his individualism, and wants his own distinct style of comedy, something he has become more confident in over time. But he often doubts himself and lets his emotions cloud his creative judgment (Brendan even said on KATS he often needs reassurance even after absolutely killing a set). A common misrepresentation of Fours is that they are unsociable and can't have fun or make people happy. On the contrary, they are often comfortable exploring all emotions from negative to positive, and many times have a sharp wit and comedic instinct that stands out among others. Per the enneagram institute, Fours at level 3 are "self-revealing, emotionally honest, humane. Ironic view of self and life: can be serious and funny, vulnerable and emotionally strong." https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-4 Theo often seems to live in this lower healthy level, balancing comedy and vulnerability. I could see an argument for 9 or 6, but my best guess is Theo is a sx/so 4w3.
