What personality type is Nie Huaisang? Nie Huaisang is an ISFP personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - sp/so - 974 in Enneagram, RCUAI in Big 5, SEI in Socionics.
I wanna make an argument for ISFP. My analysis is based on the novel so spoilers ahead. (If you've watched the untamed you're fine.) HuaiSang is clearly Fi dominant. His plan is based on his personal morality to avenge his brother and restore justice with functional methods, regardless of people that might die from this. The problem is whether he is Ne-Si or Ni-Se. I'm leaning toward Ni-Se. Before and after his brother's death he shows different function preferences, but consistently on the Ni-Se axis. In his natural state he is playful, chill and hedonistic, in touch with his surrounding rather than possibilities. I don't think this is a persona before his brother's death, but his actual personality if he could lead a normal life. All his interests are of an aesthetic or visual nature, such as drawing or collecting arts. He never showed the Ne abstracted randomness or obsession over possibilities similar to Wei Wuxian. He enjoyed his life the way an Se user would, living in the moment and trying to live life to the fullest. His Ni-Te developed after the death of his brother. He immediately got suspicious of Jin Guangyao, planned ahead for years, made a bold move to summon Wei Wuxian and got everything going perfectly according to his plan. In a word, a well-written ISFP acting like INTJ when stressed.
