Exar Kun MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Exar Kun? Exar Kun is an ENTJ personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - sx/sp - 584 in Enneagram, SLOEI in Big 5, in Socionics.

Exar Kun is absolutely not an enneagram 5. Just because he pursued knowledge doesn't make him a 5. Type 8 individuals are characterized by their desire for control, dominance, and their assertive approach to life. Exar Kun exemplifies this through his leadership and manipulation. He seeks to control the Force, those around him, and ultimately aims to reshape the galaxy according to his vision. This drive for control and influence is much more aligned with a Type 8 than a Type 5, who typically seeks knowledge and understanding rather than control. Exar Kun’s methods are aggressive and confrontational, typical of a Type 8’s direct and sometimes combative approach to challenges. Type 5s, in contrast, are more withdrawn and cerebral, preferring to observe and understand rather than confront. The core fear of a Type 8 is being controlled or harmed by others, which leads them to assert control to protect themselves and maintain their independence. Exar Kun’s turn to the dark side of the Force can be viewed as a preemptive measure to avoid vulnerability and subjugation, aligning with an 8's response to fear. Conversely, Type 5s fear being useless, incapable, or incompetent, which drives them to accumulate knowledge and become experts in their fields, a trait less pronounced in Exar Kun's actions. While you CAN show times of Exar Kun occasionally behaving like a 5, it's easily explained by how enneagram 8's deteriorate into 5's when they are extremely mentally unhealthy (which Exar was). Type 8s are also known for their intense emotional expressions. Exar Kun’s story arc is filled with intense emotional outbursts and a strong will, typical of a Type 8, whereas Type 5s tend to be more emotionally detached and reserved. Exar Kun’s leadership style is authoritative and commanding, typical of Type 8s, who often assume leadership roles and expect obedience and respect from others. Type 5s are less likely to seek leadership positions and are more content working independently, focusing on their interests and expertise. While Exar Kun’s pursuit of ancient Sith knowledge and power might superficially seem to align with the intellectual curiosity of a Type 5, his primary motivations and behaviors are FAR more consistent with the characteristics of a Type 8 Enneagram. And before anyone brings up the need to cite specific moments, just read Tales of the Jedi. It's fantastic, and Exar Kun quite literally demonstrates all of the standard behaviors of an 8. The ONLY reason people think he's a 5 is because he made a goal of obtaining Sith knowledge.
