intuitives can’t be athletes is absurdly ********. we are talking about cognitive functions of an individual’s thinking process and how somebody perceives the world not the physical engines running somebody. being good at a particular sport is talent as well as genetics as well as practice, dedication, hard work and a bit of luck. I’m INTP and I was a former U16 national tennis player. I used to compete at some elite level international tournaments with my “non existent” Se and am still competing at the highest level in my country. I have always been so good at football and basketball that i played with men since I was very young. however I have always suffered from low bodily kinesthetic intelligence which caused my body to never be synced with my brain when dancing or bumping into stuff, or in Yoga/pilates classes I was the only one who was bending her left knee and everybody else were bending their right lol. being clumsy and head in the clouds is a trait for INxPs, because our minds are somewhere else so that we are unaware of our surroundings. however when playing tennis, the mind is set on the game. we zone in. we ignore surroundings. we can ignore the sounds and the crowd (that’s what NAOMI does as well), there’s nothing unfamiliar for us to bump into. we know everything about the court. Si is working extremely well. For me, it’s my Ti which is working in and during the breaks to analyze my opponent constantly, so I consciously stick to Ti+Si mode and use my Ne beforehand during practice sessions to be creative and construct the points which I’m going to implement in the next match based on whom I get to play. when the match goes to distance and facing problems, I carefully go Ne mode to surprise the rival. In past times however it was not easy, my Ne was overwhelming and all over the place when provoked a bit since I have ADD and when Stressed, Fe outbursts appeared, I smashed racquets, neglected my Ti+Si and and acted very impulsive. -so how being “Se blind” affects INxPs on tennis court? It happens more often than not that we forget the score completely. Or we wait wrongly on AD court to receive the return. Or when changing courts I prefer my opponent to stand up first because I often forget which side I must be at now. Being Se blind could help in someways. For example injuries during the match that could be neglected despite the pain. many times I didn’t even know i’m bleeding til the match came to an end. Tennis is a strategical marathon game that demands mental toughness as much as physicality, based on your personality and physicality, any function can help you in someway. since tennis demands thousands of hours of practice to perfect one skill, Si is a function that is super highly valuable. the more you play, the more you know what to expect from the ball in a specific situation.
