What personality type is Sayo Hikawa? Sayo Hikawa is an ISTJ personality type in MBTI, 1w9 - sp/sx - 136 in Enneagram, RLOEN in Big 5, ESI in Socionics.
Okay, this might sound controversial but just because her main problem is finding her sound and for not being copied by Hina, I hardly see her as 3, but 1. Rather than she's angry that Hina will steal the spotlight, it's more like she was angry that she can't be her ideal self because her sister will always beat her on everything. It's like she's taking refuge in a place that her sister hadn't touched before, which is guitar, but then once her sister copied and beat her, she thought her hard work will come in vain, and 1 biggest nightmare is to find that they're 'defective', imperfect, and not being their ideal self, and hina always came to remind her of that. Someone mentioned about hovernian triangle in the comment, and rather than assertive, the superego is much more fitting to her overall story, so strong that it doesn't just come from her fix. She is always there to remind everyone about what's right and the standards, even carried away to go teach anyone to their fullest potential (that one event with touko), something that rarely becomes 3's concern, and perhaps they will take advantage of it so they can go steal the spotlight. This is mostly 1w2 case, where they would like to improve their surroundings together up to their standard, even try to learn to bake a cake to show her contributions and 'improving herself', I can see where people see her as 3 tho. Both 1 and 3 are competency types, where they usually want to be seen as competent and content. But 3s care more about how people see them and try to draw attention to themselves, while I don't see it with Sayo. She is also not familiar with copying someone she looks up to, something that's supposed to be more familiar to most 3 (like Ako). Copying their surroundings is something natural to most connected types like 3, 6, and 9 (see object relation theories). It usually becomes their source of motivation, and in 3's case, they usually have the figures they look up to, or even just as trivial as crowds' approval to prove that they're worthy. But this is not the case for Sayo. She's never enjoying compliments right there and thought that's just one indication that she must try even harder to become ideal. Her idealism is much more internal and not easily influenced by her surroundings. (and idealism is mainly frustration types' problem like 1, 4, and 7) Well, that's all for now. Biography
A serious and fussy girl, Sayo can come off as somewhat cold in nature. She would never cut corners or be shoddy about things; because of that, she lives her life too seriously for her own good. She likes fluffy animals and practices archery. She's the older twin sister of Hikawa Hina. She has a complex and feels inferior to her twin sister.
