Francis Bacon MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Francis Bacon? Francis Bacon is an ENTJ personality type in MBTI, 5w6 - sp/so - 548 in Enneagram, SCOEI in Big 5, LIE in Socionics.

Bacon was heavily Te oriented. He first proposed the scientific method, which emphasized the acquisition of external, impartial, objective data (Te) and advocated for minimizing deductive syllogistic reasoning (Ti), which was what natural philosophers primarily did. Bacon's scientific method of basing one's opinion on objective knowledge rather than subjective reasoning is why experimental science as an enterprise today is largely inductive Te based. (The physical sciences rely heavily on deductive Ti reasoning for mathematical modeling, but even there, Te data is often the germinating seed.) He believed that knowledge was only valuable if it had some practical utility, and was not interested in theoretical dissection for its own sake.

Biography

Francis Bacon, 1st Viscount St Alban, (22 January 1561 – 9 April 1626) was an English philosopher and statesman who served as Attorney General and as Lord Chancellor of England. His works are credited with developing the scientific method and remained influential through the scientific revolution. Bacon has been called the father of empiricism. His works argued for the possibility of scientific knowledge based only upon inductive reasoning and careful observation of events in nature. Most importantly, he argued science could be achieved by use of a sceptical and methodical approach whereby scientists aim to avoid misleading themselves.
