What personality type is Roger "Verbal" Kint? Roger "Verbal" Kint is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 6w5 - sp/sx - 683 in Enneagram, RCUEI in Big 5, ILI in Socionics.
Highly difficult character to accurately type given that most of what we see of him is an act or in his own fabricated story, therefore we don’t know how reliable his narration is, however while this dissolves the idea that his behaviours as a person within his fabrication are reliable, it ironically does reflect a preference in itself, it shows how imaginative, intelligent, and overall how much of a masterclass improviser Söze is. To give credit where it’s due based on almost all of the above ENTP and INTJ are equally plausible, Söze appears to be both a meticulous schemer in his planning (the boat mission) and an exceptional display of improvisation (fabricating a story based on the Bulletin board and objects in the interrogation room on the spot) however I’m primarily leaning more on ENTP. Why? Ne>Ni Ne is divergent, Ni is convergent. INTJs are less likely to rely on their ability to improvise because of how much eggs they may place in their basket, that being whatever totalising tunnel vision they have narrowed down many patterns they have perceived into, as means to make coherence sense of the seemingly indifferent world. ENTPS from what I’ve seen, despite typically exploring various concepts but not fully fleshing out any of them, their primary ability to perceive possibilities based on the implications of objects leads to brainstorming in the sense that they can anticipate various outcomes of a scenario. Ne being the external perception of the metaphysical world often leads to a mindset that everything is tied together on a conceptual spider web of relation. Fabricating a false narrative on the fly like this, by taking inspirations from various objects in the room and forming rapid fire associations between them to reframe reality on the spot, is much more in line with Ne dominance as opposed to Ni dominance, in my opinion. Of course this is one example. But it’s an incredibly note worthy one as it’s more or less the bread and butter for the entire movies plot, Söze shows a rare ability to perceive a cluster of hypothetical scenarios that he filters through his mind into making rational sense using his Ti you could argue. Fe is perhaps given, his highly convincing acting skills in become a somewhat social chameleon to match appropriate reactions expected, when he tearfully manipulates Kajun. His low usage of Si is potentially manifested in his avoidance of safety protocols in his elaborate scheme to get information from the police, this is highly Ne/Ni flavoured but lacks the caution generally associated with Si and additionally Söze is seemingly dissemble of sentimental value to such an unhealthy degree in favourof making an ideological statement. He killed his very own family after they already endured torture from others to make a statement on how “superior” he is, as if he can kill his family, he won hesitated to kill anyone else if needs be. This not only prevents his enemies from being able to use his flak of against him but it paints Kezsor Söze as a somewhat mythical, demonic, boogeyman of the underworld. Keyser Söze seems to do this less to establish an ideological statement but to gaze the reactions of others and thus psychologically feed off their fear to further fulfill his ego. My point is, his approach seems more attuned to being explorative in his pursuits as opposed to premeditated… I understand I’ve been quite speculative here however I think that often has a lot of worthy value in itself, I wanted to write something long as opposed to short but perhaps sweet “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist” *realises last minute, the answer was in front of me the whole time, like Kajun* Keyzor Söze told us his type by comparing himself to the devil himself who’s priority votes as an ENTP/J As I suggested at the start typing a character who’s defining trait is ontological deception is nearly always paradoxical. Like another comments states I agree you could very much argue that the Verbal Kink persona is an ENTP and the untouchable demon archetype which is none other than Keysor Söze is an INTJ, however I’m more inclined to throw around ideas to work with for the ENTP argument.
