What personality type is Blanche DuBois? Blanche DuBois is an ENFJ personality type in MBTI, 4w3 - sx/so - 461 in Enneagram, SLUEI in Big 5, EIE in Socionics.
The most prominent trait of Blanche is how she views the world through a filter - which is symbolized by her buying a paper lantern, which - at the end - serves to hide her flaws and details interpreted as undesirable (like her wrinkles). This corresponds to Ni as used by NFJ types - they view everything through an intuitive filter (Ni, perceptive function), which they use to interpret the real world (Se which is weaker than Ni). Even though arguments for her being an ENFP are convincing, I would argue that she tries to harmonize her internal perception with the environment (Fe). She is not dismissive of public perception, rather - she seeks to change it, as is common with NFJ types. She acts on public opinion rather than her own personal values, which is why I think she is a Fe user. In addition, I think she can be interpreted as an INFJ rather than an ENFJ. But I think she uses Se competently enough for it to be her tertiary function (she's very interested in fashion, and it kind of fits with the tertiary function being the 'child' function). All in all, Blanche is a character who seeks to harmonize the environment - making her a Fe user in my opinion. Enneagram: The arguments for 7w6 are too convincing for me to vote for her as a 4w3. I assumed her to have a 4 fix, but I found something out. she deal with shame by practicing self-deceit. this is a 3 characteristic. She does not exhibit as much jealousy towards ithers to have a 4 fix. In addition, I am not sure about her gut fix. It's either 8 or 1. 8 because she seeks to control the situation, and 1 because she wants to perfect herself as much as possible. Socionics: She's either an IEI or EIE. She uses quite a bit of Socionics Ni through the story, viewing things in allegories. Since she uses her Fe in a negative way according to Gulenko, I will type her as an EIE. Her insecurities about her body are also in line with the EIE's Si PoLR, as it often manifests as body image issues and substance abuse.
