Mavis Dracula MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Mavis Dracula? Mavis Dracula is an ENFP personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - so/sx - 974 in Enneagram, SCUAI in Big 5, IEE in Socionics.
are there even any arguments for 9w1? admittedly i haven't paid much attention to this franchise, but from what i see so far everything seems to point towards w8>w1, and that's coming from an ENFP 9w1 who was curious to know if we shared the same typing. (this in itself is the first clue; from what i knew, mavis and i are not very similar in terms of personality, hence i was curious if we really were the same type—turns out we aren't). there are already two good arguments for 9w8 in the older comments, which i'm resurrecting below (you can see them if you scroll down and click "load more comments"): from @[dimple] - "9w1s are orderly and are typically more introverted than 9w8s. they keep the peace by ensuring that rules are being followed. 9w8s however are typically more assertive and ready to take action than w1s. they don’t necessarily NEED to domineer over people but will if they see it is necessary. they’re typically better at handling social situations than w1s and are more likely to take on leadership roles or step in when no one else will. 9w1s are more analytical and show more self control and restraint than 9w8s who are more prone to angry outbursts or disintegration than most 9s. in my opinion i can’t see Mavis as the quiet, analytical type. she’s chill but she knows when to step in and take action. she knows how to fend for herself when she doesn’t think the rules are fair." from deleted user #73023 - "I think she more 'don't want to be under control and want to do what I want' (w8), than 'want to be a perfect and moralistic person' (w1)" to add, here are some highlights which show w8>w1. of course the best way to type is to watch the entire movie(s), but i think these scenes are already good examples of things a 9w8 would do. (link: https://youtu.be/ChM4xDj5DP4) being a w8, mavis is action-oriented and somewhat impulsive even, which ties in perfectly with her dominant ne and 7 fix. she is quick to act on her gut instincts (w8) rather than sit back and judge/calculate from a distance (w1). at 1:18, she breaks a piñata at a party even thought it's not yet time, which causes the wolf children to go feral and overrun the party in excitement. (not the best example, but it illustrates her impulse—a 9w1 would be very careful about such things, and would be more likely to hesitate on breaking the piñata due to the possibility of it going wrong, just as what happened afterwards) at 1:47, she is visiting a human convenience store with jonathan. note how she reacts upon being informed of all her choices—she instinctively moves to take action and exploit all the possibilities. in a way, her goal is to dominate and take control over the choices. this is also ENFP ne-te, which is reinforced by her w8. the best example is at 3:18, where she tries to intimidate an airport ticket seller because there are no direct flights to transylvania, by suddenly transforming into a scary monster for a moment. this scene is a dead w8 giveaway, and shows how she is more in-touch with her inner anger instinct compared to w1s. although 9s in general are known for their sudden, unexpected bursts, 9w1s do not "burst" as easily and as casually as a 9w8 would, like in this situation. also, mavis harnesses her inner anger as a means to achieve something, rather than out of a reaction to a buildup of negativity (9w1s' anger tends to be more reactive than proactive). to end, here is a description of her from the heroes wiki: "Mavis is gentle, headstrong, intelligent, curious, dramatic, and independent. She has a little bit of an attitude, but she is very sincere and gentle... Mavis wants a little bit of independence and trust from her father and often gets bored." (note "independent" and "attitude") one of 9's basic desires is autonomy (gut/anger triad), and both 9w1 and 9w8 seeks to have their boundaries respected at the very least. however, 9w8s can take this one step further by also seeking "independence" as one of their basic desires, aside from just "autonomy." autonomy is merely a lack of control or interference from others, whereas independence is the ability to act on one's own volition. 9w1s do not seek to act on their own volition (since they are less in-touch with their instincts), they simply desire to be free of external influence.
