though - like Jinty - Pug appears to be friendly and polite, having whistled cheerfully to Percy, Thomas and Toby upon arrival. Pug is based on an LMS 0F Kitson 0-4-0ST. Pug in particular is one of the five from the original 1932 batch (originally built as numbers 1500-1504, later renumbered 7000-7004 and then finally British Railways 47000-47004), which had longer saddle tanks and shorter bunkers. In 1956, Jinty and Pug - along with five other engines - were loaned by British Railways to run the North Western Railway while Sir Topham Hatt's engines visited the Mainland. Before leaving, the Fat Controller's engines showed Pug how to run the railway.
