If he were an Ne user, maybe he would be more curious (due to premises like Ne as "always-inquisitive" and Ni as "inquisitive-then-satisfied"), as is pointed out in this description about his fellow, James Aubrey (who I believe is ENTP): "Unlike Booth, James demonstrates a voracious appetite for learning the science behind their investigations [...]".
