Personality

What personality type is Garnet Til Alexandros? Garnet Til Alexandros is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 1w9 - so/sp - 164 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, EII in Socionics.

Garnet: I want you to go find Zidane. Eiko: Oh, I get it. You're getting jealous. Garnet: No, I'm not. I just have a feeling something terrible is going to happen. I can see why she is typed as ISFJ. When looking back on the game, it's easy to remember her as very duty-bound, as halfway through the game she was insistent on returning to Alexandria and ruling over her kingdom. I could see how someone might vaguely remember the story and assume she was a stereotypical ISFJ. But when you look closer at the story, you can see that Garnet is an Ni dom, not an Si dom. She is extremely future-oriented, always planning what her next move should be to prevent war and fight for the greater good of all people. When she finds out her entire past was a lie, she is less interested in finding out more about her heritage and instead is more concerned with what this new information means going forward on her journey. This is in stark contrast to Yuna from FFX, an ISFJ, who decides her every move based on what has been done before. She cherishes the tradition of a summoner's pilgrimage, admits that she has never once questioned the teachings of Yevon, and is so proud to follow in her father's footsteps. It is so difficult for her to stray from this path even when it becomes clear that she must. Garnet on the other hand spends little time contemplating the revelations of her past, too preoccupied imagining how she can use her current position to improve upon the injustices of her world (Ni+Fe). Her low Ti is shown at times such as when she becomes more critical than usual, often in times of stress. When she is plotting to help Marcus steal Supersoft and reflects on how she has gotten to this point, she is quick to blame Zidane. "It was your fault, Zidane. If you hadn't treated me like a child, I wouldn't be here trying to steal Supersoft to save one of your friends. Why am I doing this . . .?" In reality, these two events aren't as connected as she's telling herself. Zidane insisted she wasn't ready for war, but she could have staged a plan to follow them to Burmecia. The plan to return to Alexandria/help Marcus was all her own. But amidst her stress, she overthinks and becomes critical, assigning blame to others. She seems to improve at this as her character develops: "I shouldn't have listened to Eiko and summoned Alexander." - "No, it's not her fault." At times she deludes herself into thinking she is doing what she truly wants, when actually reacting to social pressures (Fe) such as when she returns to rule Alexandria. She does not react well to criticism, like the scene I previously mentioned where Zidane insists that she isn't prepared for war. She takes this very personally. She also seems to overthink-there are many scenes that show her by herself, such as by the telescope in Lindblum, going over a slew of thoughts in her mind, which sometimes involves harsh self-criticism: "It's all my fault." "I never should've left home.” “I’ve only brought misery on everyone." During times of stress, she can be quite impulsive (Se grip) like when she rushes to get an Eidolon to save her mother's life even when Eiko seems to think this is unlikely to work/she is risking death to even try. The Ni/Se axis is also shown in that she is never content to remain in Alexandria. Upon becoming queen, she is conflicted and looks back on her journey with the others, trying to deny her own desires to journey again (Fe) for the good of her people, but it isn't long before she travels with the party again. Many players believe that she likely left the palace with Zidane after the final cutscene and I'm someone who also interprets the end the same way. She casts her crown aside when running to Zidane, and some NPCs in Alexandria will share that they wish Beatrix was queen. I personally always felt the writers included these details to imply Zidane and Garnet/Dagger left Alexandria after the ending
