What personality type is Kayla Day? Kayla Day is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 6w7 - so/sp - 694 in Enneagram, RLUAI in Big 5, EII in Socionics.
Genuinely curious as to why people think Kayla is a 4, when I watched the movie I thought it was clear that she is an enneagram 6. The core motivation of fours is to be themselves and to be authentically them, whereas enneagram sixes want security and to be included. Kayla doesn't go out of her way to be different and contrarian the way enneagram 4's are, she actively seeks out security in trying to befriend the popular kids and to get her crush to like her, as well as the high schoolers she goes to the mall with. A lot of what she is seeking is very conventional and mainstream. I think the key difference is that a four would choose to be a loner, but a six would hate being a loner. Kayla clearly did not choose to be a loner, and if she were an enneagram 4 this would not be a big conflict for her, but it clearly is and Kayla hates to be alone but is too anxious to reach out to people to befriend them. I think the entire arc of the movie can be viewed through the lens of an enneagram six adapting the behaviors of an unhealthy enneagram 3 (social media, trying to fit in) and growing into the healthy traits of an enneagram 9 as she becomes more agreeable within her environment and becomes friends with Gabe. I think she is a 6w7 because she definitely has a motivation to be content. She constantly stimulates herself with entertainment online to make up for being unhappy and when she becomes friends with Gabe her goofier side is revealed.
