It’s not all that random when you consider that Daniels, the two directors, likely spend a lot of time in cities like LA and NYC where bagels are an immensely popular food item and a cultural staple. The two directors, both of whom are high Ne users, use a totem of their uber-specific inner sensory experience to represent the possibilities of everything. Throughout the film, Daniels draw randomness from objects and things they directly experience and absorb in their daily lives, which is also what makes the film so appealing to audiences because the randomness is always from a place of familiarity, and the plot is literally how one event can go in different directions. Had they not been Americans, they’d use something different to extrapolate their ideas, or have different ideas altogether. Different from an Se-Ni user who would try to find what is constant among all sensory experiences and converge sensory data in singular universal truths. The Se-Ni movie equivalent would be something like 2001: A Space Odyssey, where time progresses and maintains order (Ni) in all different events and objects (Se), like how the jump-cut from a bone to a nuclear satellite across two million years tells us they are essentially the same object: a weapon. Ne-Si is the abstract changing across constant sensory experience. Se-Ni is the sensory experience changing but maintaining a singular abstraction.
