Since i think Se and Ti is obvious, I will make a case for Ti dom rather than Se dom. He absolutely love being in nature and he is one of the few explorers on tv that goes without a filmcrew all the time, it’s an isolating experience that I think would make an ESTP go mad. Se-doms thrive on stimulation, movement, competition and social energy. Surviving in these environments require a lot of tedious, repetitive almost ”mechanical” crafts such as making snares, carving wood and making shelter. Ed seems to handle this quite well. Inferior Fe also makes sense when he talks about escaping the buzz of society and recharging through his time in nature. Our inferior function drains us of energy the fastest when we use it, whereas our dominant function can actually help us reload since it comes to us so naturally. I think the show does quite well in showing how his Se auxiliary supports his Ti-dom, he engages with reality selectively, filtering Se through Ti, only focusing on the observations he needs to survive and tuning out the rest (bites, loud sounds, etc). He shows an interest in understanding the underlying systems of how nature works. He also showed a very interesting use of Ni when he was ”listening to the forest” to find water and the specific stone he needed to make fire, which I believe shows that he is not Ni inferior. Ni is known to appear sporadically and in bursts for ISTP’s and tends to gets expressed through sharp instincts. They can suddenly become extremely certain about something with little explanation, which mirrors how Ed talks.
