He broke up with Elle to please his parents and throughout the movie he’s constantly accommodating to people, like when he broke up with Elle, he wasn’t blunt at all and kept on sugarcoating the situation. Or when she asked to make some space and let her in study with them even though he wasn’t with her anymore he asked the group to let her in. He has a set plan for his life , following in the steps of his older brother, I don’t even think he’s in love with Vivian because he moved on so quick from her, he only proposed to make his family happy so he could have a sensible wife like his family wants.
