Biography
Outcome bias is a cognitive bias where people judge the quality of a decision based on the outcome it produces rather than on the quality of the decision-making process itself. In essence, it's evaluating the decision's effectiveness by looking at the resulting outcome without considering the circumstances, information, or reasoning that were available at the time the decision was made. For instance, if a risky investment turns out to be profitable, people might perceive the decision to invest as good solely because it resulted in a positive outcome, overlooking the risks or the quality of the decision-making process. Conversely, if a decision leads to a negative outcome, it might be perceived as a bad decision, regardless of the soundness of the reasoning at the time.
