Biography
Alfonso I (1106, 1109 or 1111 - 6th December 1186) was the first king of Portugal (Condado Portucalense/County of Portugal), nicknamed "The Conqueor" ("O Conquistador"). He was the only son of Henrique from Condado Portucale and Teresa of León, husband of Mafalda of Savoy and father to Henrique, Sancho I, Urraca, Teresa, Mafalda, João and Sancha. Afonso I was the One who proclaimed County of Portugal's independence from León Kingdom, after his victory in Battle of Ourique.
