What personality type is Piano? Piano is an INTJ personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - sp/so - 415 in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
The piano is Ni dominant and INTJ. Before explaining why, allow me to take the middle functions out of the way, since they are being far less contested here: Te - very obvious imo. The piano is explicit, direct and to the point: press key X with desired strenght to produce note Y with desired volume. It also requires quite a bit of structure to be played and studied. A very extraverted thinking way of being. Fi - not so obvious, but still quite clear. The piano is not a collective, people pleasing instrument. It doesn't really care if it's popular or not, it's far more concerned about being able to express itself precisely and however it feels. It demands it's space. Period. Ni or Si? - the versatility, complexity, impracticality and timeless aspect of the piano are dead giveaways. To this day, it's still the best instrument for songwriting, since it can produce such a large range of notes simultaneously. With so many resulting layers of complexity, it provides as much musical food for thought as you'll ever need. And despite being such a long lasting and fundamental staple in music, it's probably the most clumsy instrument ever invented: it is huge, heavy, very expensive, hard to take from one place to another and annoying to tune and clean (despite staying in tune and clean for a long time after that is done). To sum it up, then, in it's quest to become a memorable and eternal contribution that changed everything after it came, the piano allowed many and many practical, obvious and daily worries like being movable to slip it's mind. If that's not a Ni-dom / Se-inferior dynamic, I don't know what is.
