Personality

What personality type is Morinaga Tetsuhiro? Morinaga Tetsuhiro is an ENFJ personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - sx/so - 947 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, LII in Socionics.

ENFJ His dominant Function is clearly Fe, One of Morinaga’s defining traits is that he is very understanding of people’s emotions, in fact one of the only reasons that the relationship works is because he is able to understand how his partner is feeling without him having to explicitly tell him. It is normal for Fe dominants to care deeply about other people’s needs. Needless to say, Morinaga is a very caring and giving person. He’s not caring only towards his partner (If i gave all of the examples for this I’d be here forever, but he cleans their house, cooks all the meals, washes and irons their clothes without even being asked or appreciated very much for it), but also to everyone around him. A few examples of this are the following: In volume 3, he covers for his friend at the university despite having wanted to spend time with his crush. In Volume 9 it is only when he notices his quarrel with Souichi is affecting the helpers of the lab that he decides to smooth things over with him, and in volume 10 the first thought he has after being prompted by his friend to invite his lover to come on a trip with him is whether the new helpers they hired would feel ready to be left alone. Morinaga is also a bit of a self-abandoner, which is common in people with high Fe. I’ve noticed this habit of putting others over himself a lot throughout the story, and it's definitely a key aspect of his character. In volume 2, the reader learns that during his time in middle school he dated a guy called Masaki. Morinaga’s older brother, Kunihiro (who was also masaki’s best friend) walked in on them and berated them for being gay. This lead to Masaki attempting suicide after revealing to Morinaga that the person who he was actually in love with was Kunihiro, and had only been using him as some sort of distraction. After his attempt, horrible rumours began to spread about Morinaga and how he had been the reason Masaki attempted (even though it had actually been due to his brother’s hurtful and homophobic comments towards them). Despite having been treated terribly by all parties involved, Morinaga honours Masaki’s wishes of not telling Kunihiro about the real reason behind his attempt and he bears the entire blame for the situation by himself even years after it happens. Essentially, he’s let himself be ostracised by the people of his hometown for someone that had taken advantage of him. Here more than ever, we see him neglect his own needs to appease someone else and avoid conflict. Fe's will often sacrifice themselves for other people’s sake, and this is shown constantly in Morinaga’s relationship with his family; he does not feel as if he can be loved unconditionally by them. On top of that a repeating situation is that he almost never lets his partner know when he is upset (we clearly see this in volumes 5,6,7,8,9 and 10) While the manga is generally written from Morinagas perspective, there are a few instances where the point of view switches to Souichi, in many of these chapters he points out Morinaga's habit of “smiling even though he wants to cry”. Morinaga is constantly afraid of sharing his needs and emotions in fear of becoming a burden to others. On a separate note, he often avoids conflict which can also be a sign of dominant FE. I think the most obvious example is his bad habit of running away when there is a problem in their relationship. The first time it happens is in the “challengers” manga, after he confesses his feelings for Souichi. He does it again in the first and 7th volume of Koisuru Boukun. Another time when he avoided bringing something up in fear of conflict arising is in volume 4 where he doesn’t want to bring up the issue with their living situation in case his desire to continue living together would burden his lover in any way, He’s also quite sensitive, and tends to take things to heart. He becomes depressed and jealous very easily. Finally he’s someone well aware of social norms and when making a decision he sometimes worries on how it will be perceived by the people around him In the latest volume of the manga (14) he sees a woman openly flirting with his partner, when he clearly rejects her she makes a comment about him being gay. Even Though Morinaga is a very jealous person, his first worry is about people finding out about Souichi’s relationship and spreading rumours about his sexuality, which would negatively impact his career. Overall I think this is a textbook example of Fe and he exhibits this trait very obviously .
