Dawson Leery MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Dawson Leery? Dawson Leery is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - so/sx - 416 in Enneagram, SLUAI in Big 5, IEE in Socionics.

Dawson Leery is a textbook INFP. His INFPness reigns supreme. His personality is a sad emoji baking in a muffin tray, because Mother Nature made him the dreamer. In all seriousness, though, he is an INFP. He most often showcases objective knowledge/expectancy (Ne), because that is his coexisting auxiliary function, but he most often personally calculates instead of personally speculating so he's an introvert and not an extravert, cognitively speaking. Joey : "Dawson, I'm sorry I don't have the same dreams I had when I was 15 years old, and I'm sorry that I moved on faster than you did, but you know what? Maybe not everything that happens to you is my fault! And maybe just because I want more from my life than..." Dawson : "More than what? More than us? You don't know, do you? You've never known. The entire time I've known you, all you've wanted to do is escape. From me, from Capeside. I mean, you say that I'm the dreamer. I'm the one who doesn't wanna live in the real world. Well, I'm doing it, Joey. Right now. I'm living in the real world. It's you who wants the fantasy" This exchange with Joey (an ISFP) examples Dawson's on the level dominant subjective metrics/values/limitation (Fi). In almost every single episode, Dawson is calculating toward his own personal evaluation to decide what is his truth. He's not like Pacey (an ENFP) who speculates toward shared impersonal knowledge and expectation. No. That's not Dawson Leery. Dawson does not have dominant Ne, but he has conscious Ne as a function of utility to aid in his self-evaluative calculation. He's auxiliary Ne. Dawson : "I'm an artist, torture is a prerequisite." This quote examples Dawson's conscious auxiliary objective knowledge/expectancy (Ne). He's certainly not an Se type. He operates from an awareness of ideas as objects in the sense that ideas are to him externally sourced and (this is how you can tell he's not an Ne dominant type) he posits that everyone else's ideas are externally sourced, too. Dawson overextends his extraverted intuition, whereas Ne dominant types do not, because they don't use Ne for calculation instead preferring naturally to use either Ti or Fi for speculation toward objective knowledge/expectancy (Ne). Dawson : "I'm mad at the world, Joey, I'm a teenager." This quote further examples Dawson's conscious auxiliary objective knowledge/expectancy (Ne). Dawson : [describing heartbreak] "It's agony. Complete, excruciating agony. It's like your heart has been ripped out of your chest and stomped on, and you can't breathe... you don't want to eat... you can't function. It's the most intense pain that you'll ever feel, and the worst part is, there's no way to relieve it. It's unyielding, merciless torture, and you know that it's yours for life." This quote examples Dawson using his conscious objective knowledge/expectancy (Ne) to calculate his subjective metrics/values/limitation (Fi). He's pulling all these externally sourced ideas of love that are for all his experience mere conjecture, e.g. "you can't breathe," "you don't want to eat," and "you can't function," and "it's the most intense pain that you'll ever feel," and "there's no way to relieve it" are externally sourced ideas of heartbreak. Dawson is reaching at these externally sourced not experientially verifiable ideas of heartbreak to self-measure. He doesn't know an appropriate (Fe) way to feel and so he aims to find an approximate (Fi) way to feel, but unlike Joey (an ISFP) Dawson doesn't calculate with objective opportunism (Se) to realize his feelings. He calculates with objective knowledge/expectancy (Ne) to realize what he feels. Jen : "Do you remember when you were ten and your Mom wouldn't get you that candy bar that you really, really wanted? Didn't you ever just... swipe it?" Dawson : "No." Dawson Leery is an INFP.
