[1/2] Chang Geng as a Sexual E5 SX5—Xiu Niang named him Chang Geng after the evening star, Venus, also known as Lucifer, which some consider an unlucky star. Emperor Yuan He gave him the name Min, symbolizing the autumn sky and qualities like generosity, accomplishment, and forgiveness. He’s the Fourth Prince of the Great Liang dynasty, born to Emperor Yuan He and the Northern Barbarian Goddess. Growing up with a rough childhood, he learned to keep things close and became quite reserved. As a kid, he was quiet and struggled to make sense of big changes in his life, until he crossed paths with the monk Liao Ran. As an adult, he's incredibly smart and mature. On the surface, he comes across as calm, having put much effort into keeping his emotions in inspection because of the Bone of Impurity. But plunging, he feels things very intensely. He's also a smooth talker. Over time, he offers his skills, especially when it comes to handling the twists and turns of court politics. He sees things fairly and has a strong sense of justice. That said, he's pretty cynical about the court and its nobles, and he keeps his guard up around most people—except for Gu Yun. His profound attachment to his country and his people, along with his perceptive sense of when to show kindness and when to be ruthless, made him the greatest Emperor Great Liang had seen in three generations. Some of his earliest memories were of life in the mountains with Xiu Niang, where he often saw her enduring terrible abuse and cruelty. From as far back as he could remember, Xiu Niang had always been harsh, even violent. He believed he was the result of one of the unwanted encounters between her and the bandits. At some point during this time, Xiu Niang poisoned him with the Bone of Impurity, which eventually makes it impossible to tell reality from dreams, driving those affected to madness and spreading chaos wherever they go. After they managed to escape, Chang Geng and Xiu Niang settled in Yanhui, a small town near the Northern Border. There, a low-ranked soldier named Xu took a liking to Xiu Niang and offered them a place to stay. He later became Chang Geng’s stepfather, providing him with the only bit of kindness he knew for a while. There was a time when he tried to run away from Xiu Niang, but he ended up facing a pack of wolves. Luckily, Shen Shiliu and Shen Yi happened to pass by and rescue him. From that point on, Shen Shiliu looked after him and eventually became his adopted father, or "yifu". Later, when the Northern Barbarians attacked Yanhui Town using a massive steam-powered kite, he found out that Xiu Niang, who he thought was his mother, was his aunt and a spy named Hu Ge Er. During the chaos, his teacher, Shen, saved him, and that’s when he also learned the true identities of his teacher and his "yifu". It turned out that Gu Yun, his "yifu" and Shen Yi were on a mission from the Emperor to locate and return the missing Fourth Prince to the capital. He was stunned to find out that he was supposedly this lost prince, but he couldn’t bring himself to believe it. He was hurried back to the capital just in time to meet Emperor Yuan He before he passed. During that final meeting, the ailing emperor officially entrusted him to Gu Yun’s care until he came of age, hoping Gu Yun’s influence would help keep him safe. Living at the Marquis' manor, he started training with iron puppets under Gu Yun's guidance. On the way to pay New Year's respects to the new Emperor, Long An, he crossed paths with two monks, Liao Chi and Liao Ran, from the Hu Guo Temple. Though he only spoke with Liao Ran out of politeness at first, something Liao Ran said struck him deeply: "Without suffering, one will not believe in Buddha." Chang Geng felt hurt and upset when Gu Yun left for the Northwestern Camp without even letting him know, refusing to take him along. He decided to head over to Hu Guo Temple, where he spent a lot of time talking with Liao Ran and began exploring Buddhism. Buddhism became an important part of his life, helping him stay calm and keep the Bone of Impurity’s effects in examination. Later, when Liao Ran decided to leave on a journey, he took the chance to "run away" too, setting off on a journey of self-discovery with Ge Pangxiao and Cao Chunhua. Along the way, they ran into Gu Yun again, who had heard about his escape and had been chasing after them, even putting up wanted posters to get Liao Ran arrested. They soon set off on an adventure and uncover a rebellion being plotted by Wei Wang, who’s working with the Jiangnan Navy, and Dong Ying. The trio, along with monk Liao Ran, Gu Yun, and a few others, manage to put down the uprising. Along the way, Chang Geng discovers the Lin Yuan Pavilion and meets Chen Qing Xu. When things settle down, Gu Yun invites him to return with him to the Black Iron Camp, but he decides to go his way instead. This choice leaves Chang Geng and Gu Yun parting on an unhappy note.
