Personality

What personality type is Greg Davies? Greg Davies is an ENTJ personality type in MBTI, 3w2 - so/sp - 387 in Enneagram, in Big 5, SLE in Socionics.

I'm aware that his persona on Taskmaster isn't the same as his real personality, but there's still a lot to be gleaned from the show (which is where most people know him from, I'd argue). For example, he's always looking for a narrative, or a metaphor, and if you just take the route-one option he's most likely not going to be impressed with it. There have been times where he's been about to give someone a low score, but they've jumped in and explained their performance as a metaphor or an analogy just in time to change Greg's mind. A task from S11 springs to mind in which the contestants had to paint the best portrait of the Taskmaster using only their feet. Jamali Maddix combined hell with paper and created something that looked nothing like Greg (despite saying it was the Taskmaster sitting under a tree and "thinking of tasks and shit", IIRC). He was about to get one point but at the last moment turned it into some weird metaphor about Greg's aura, or something. Anyway, it got him 5 points in the end. Greg sure does like a metaphor. He himself sees narratives and metaphors even when one wasn't intended, too. I think it was Katy Wix in S9 who made a fountain out of plates in a sink and Greg somehow spotted a narrative in there and ranked it far higher than it should have been ranked. (I might be getting my facts wrong here lol, but this sort of thing happens often.) There's Ni. When I first came to this page, he was typed as ESTP, which is definitely wrong. There's Se, for sure, but it's definitely not dominant. A sensor wouldn't care about all that narrative bullcrap; they'd want the route 1 solution. (which is why sensors generally do worse on this show - they tend to lack the lateral thinking skills needed to appease Greg.) That being said, I don't think his Ni is dominant - it's just obvious, because he uses it so often in the way he judges the tasks. He definitely values Te and objectivity well. Of course, some of this is just his persona, but the persona works because Greg as a person is capable of being objective and fair and no-nonsense. I know there have been allegations of him favouring his friends, but I've never seen any of that and I've watched all the series multiple times through. I think people are just trying to stir things up, tbh. Without dominant Te, I doubt the show would be much good in all honesty. It's why Alex Horne (a Ti dom 9) felt he couldn't play Taskmaster and had to get someone else to do it; his Te just wasn't up to it. Basically, you need a dictatorial Te dom for the job. Yes, his persona is also an ENTJ, but I think for this to work so well he as a person also has to be so.
