I feel that many people are typing him as an ISTP mostly because of his antisocial personality disorder, which they believe to indicate inferior Fe. But I believe that his character was an Fe user in the way that he learned to read and adapt to others well, presented a persona that best suited his social environment, and especially in the way he was able to manipulate and deceive others through his understanding of certain social norms/connections rather than his understanding of empathy and feelings. An Fe user isn't defined by great empathy but rather by great knowledge and navigation of social climates. This can be seen in the way he was able to maintain a 'good, normal husband' persona for 14 years with his wife, showing only what she wanted to see and saying things she wanted to hear. He knew how to manipulate others well: Like when he feigned innocence while being interviewed in his hospital bed after almost drowning, when he put on a crying act to a victim's wife, when he pushed Moo-Jin into helping him (like through poking at his weak spots or asking him to help in front of Hae Su because he knew Moo-Jin would want to impress her), when he made his daughter apologize to the other little girl that punched her to make the parent feel guilty and ruin their reputation, and when he deceived the human trafficker into thinking him a serial killer like his father. Hyun-Soo's character is built around him being a master of deceit - No Ti dom would use such a heavy amount of Fe to perceive and solve every single problem for 18 years. And his Ni is so blatantly obvious with the way he carefully calculates and thinks ahead instead of acting on instinct. I find his character deeply intriguing as he showcases how cognitive functions aren't as black and white as Fe = empathetic/emotional and Ti = non empathetic/non emotional.
