What personality type is Amethyst? Amethyst is an ESFP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - sp/sx - 478 in Enneagram, SLUEN in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.
I think Amethyst is a core 4. Her main conflict through the show and almost all the episodes which focus on her have always been about how she feels defective and flawed in comparison of others, that’s why she took wrestling as a way of expressing herself on an authentic way on “Tigger millionaire, that’s why she wanted to run away with Steven on “on the run”. All amethyst episodes are centered around this Insecurity of inner shame “tigger millionaire”, “crack the whip” “amethyst vs Steven ”, “too short to ride”, “on the run”, “reformed” that’s her main conflict. In "Too Far" she also got offended when Peridot stated that she was a "defective" quartz. All of those episodes are very image-focused and related to how she feels flawed and the various ways she tries to cope with this feelings, that’s partly why she acted so callous toward pearl because she was everything that she wasn’t (that’s why she clashed so much her on episodes like “on the run”, “tigger millionaire” and “reformed”) Her escaping her problems doesn’t mean she is a core seven (but I do think it’s one of her fix types after all she does looks a lot like a self preservation seven at times) yet she doesn’t has the main fear of one, she acted out because she thought of herself as being flawed, her envy and feelings of shame were displayed whenever tension arise with characters like Pearl and Jasper. Just look at this interactions (they are very good examples of how amethyst is a core 4): Garnet: “Amethyst rushed her regeneration, she should've taken her time.” Steven: “Like Pearl?” (Amethyst stops walking, offended.) Garnet: “Yes, Pearl put a bit more... thought into how she came back.” Amethyst: “Pearl! Pearl! Pearl! You know I can hear you! reveals an oversized ear I'm sorry I'm not like Pearl with her fancy form, and her clean room with no monsters in it!” - - - —————————————- Peridot: “They should be listening to you! You're a strong, singular, fully-functional soldier, despite the fact you're defective.” Amethyst: “Defective?” Peridot: “Well sure! You're small!” Amethyst: “So?” Peridot: “Well, you're not supposed to be! […] this place must have been empty when you came out. No wonder you have no idea what you're supposed to look like!” Amethyst: “What was I supposed to look like?” Peridot: “Well, you're a quartz. They're huge, loyal soldiers. You should be twice your size. Broad shouldered, intimidating. But you simply stayed in the ground too long.” Amethyst: (Angered) “Are you saying I'm wrong?!” —————————————————————— Pearl : “Steven, a very long time ago, Gems tried to do something... very bad. (*looks at Amethyst, who quickly turns away*) It was something that would have damaged the Earth. Some Gems, like your mother, Garnet, and myself, felt that this was unfair to the life that already existed here, and so we swore to never let the Earth be used for their... purposes.” (Amethyst approaches another Flask Robonoid and crushes it underneath her foot in upset.) —————————————————— Steven: “Pearl? Was Amethyst really made here?” Pearl: “How much did you tell him?” Amethyst: “What? You mean about the bad thing? How this bad place is where bad Gems came to grow more bad Gems? Is that what you're talking about?” Steven: “They grew other Gems here?!” Pearl: “Amethyst! He's not ready!” Amethyst: “Oh, but don't worry, Steven. Everything's just fine now-“ Pearl: “Amethyst!” Amethyst: “It all worked out. We won!-“ Pearl: “Stop.” Amethyst: “And we shut this place down-“ Pearl: “Stop!” Amethyst: “So the Earth would be safe from parasites like ME!” Pearl: AMETHYST! That's enough! (Amethyst walks away in anger.) Pearl: “Steven, I'm sorry. I never wanted you to see this horrible place.” Amethyst: “Then why don't you just... LEAVE!” Pearl: Amethyst, stop this! You can't beat me. Amethyst: I... DON'T... CARE! I'm NOT gonna let you stand there and remind me of everything I HATE ABOUT MYSELF!!!! ————————— Amethyst: [To jasper] you think you can just keep showing up and picking fights with us? Biography
Amethyst is the youngest of the Crystal Gems (not counting Steven) and the resident Wild Child of the team. She loves to instigate pranks and act ridiculous even in the face of danger, which can sometimes result in innocents like Steven getting caught in the middle of her antics. Having been 'born' on Earth, her behavior is the most human-like of the group, and she has happily adopted human customs like eating and sleeping (neither of which Gems actually need to do). Due to her unruly nature, she often chafes under the discipline of the two older Gems. As the series progresses, her rebellious, moody attitude is revealed to stem from an inferiority complex she feels when compared to her teammates, including Steven.
