Nathalie MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Nathalie? Nathalie is an ISTP personality type in MBTI, 6w7 - - 782 in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.
I believe Nathalie is a Social 8, and I will use some info from the article below to support my opinion: https://wiki.personality-database.com/books/enneagram/page/social-8-in-detail Spoilers for the comic! So, Nathalie is driven by an intense instinct to protect Thumbless. Not only that, but she seems to care a lot about social ethics and harmony between the group, being un-hesitant to raise her voice when she perceives injustice. She gets very angry and defensive when she and Thumbless are attacked by the prisoners, she lashes out at Liam to make him quit his cruel tendencies and she is very angry at Vincent when he causes Thumbless to fall into the water, fiercely demanding him to take accountability for his actions. Basically, Nathalie is a strong defender of what is morally right, and she directs her E8 trait of being confrontational at the greater good. All of this is very SO8-like, as the article above quotes Naranjo, who describes the attitude of SO8 as „violence arose from solidarity”. As for the passion of Lust, we see it in Nathalie’s desire for freedom and thrill. She mentions how her bike was a way for her to find an escape from the secluded life on the island. Prior to the events of the main story, Nathalie is shown to have been a maverick-kind of person, with an idiosyncratic behavior but still with a drive towards justice, which she was willing to take to extremes. Also, her relation with Vincent is the definition of ”Complicity”, which is how SO8 is described. Now, when it comes to her fears, she displays the fear of being restricted/controlled which is typical of 8s, as I pointed above. But since she is the Social subtype, she makes this fear ”broader” in the sense that she fears for the freedom of others too. She sees Thumbless’s suffering as a cage that is holding him prisoner, so she fights to help him break away from that and protect him from being ”encaged” again. She is not flawless in doing so, as often she focuses so much on her desire to help that she fails to see the actual needs of Thumbless and his individual feelings. Fortunately she manages to keep an open mind, and it is thanks to her that Thumbless manages to begin seeing the world in a new way. By facing her past and directing her strength at the greater good in a balanced way, she manages to break free from unhealthy patterns.
